I'll admit up front that I've become one of those guys who can't stop doing math on the amount of money I haven’t spent recently on tax stamps, which is a strange sentence to type, but here we are. For the last two weeks, I've had a Franklin Armory F22-V SBR on the bench and at the range for a while now, and today I want to share my experiences and thoughts with you, sor far, on this unique platform that just a year ago would have been an extra 400 bones just for the permission to enjoy the 10/22 in what I think is one of its most enjoyable forms - a two stamp SBR.

I have never really been a huge piston-driven AR-15 fan. The extra weight, complexity, and lack of real benefit for me as a fairly low-volume civilian shooter left me convinced that a well-built direct impingement rifle still offered the best balance for people like me. So when Franklin Armory offered to send out one of their OPS-16 rifles, I figured it’d be another chance to reaffirm my somewhat anti-piston-AR stance. This fairly new rifle is intended to be used with Franklin’s Binary system, but I’ve decided to abscond with the BFS and instead review the standard, 16-inch 5.56 rifle configuration, which uses a low-profile, self-regulating Osprey Defense piston system that aims for cleaner operation and suppressor compatibility without the usual adjustments or swapping out of other components.

Franklin Armory had several new things at SHOT Show Industry Day At The Range 2026, including the new Prevail bolt action rifle. This gun blends the best parts of controlled feed and push feed actions. We now have some rounds through the gun and can explain better how it works.

Franklin Armory will introduce at SHOT Show 2026 what it describes as the world’s first Total Round Control™ (TRC) bolt action, as the foundation of its new Prevail™ line of long-range precision and hunting rifles. The patent-pending TRC action is designed to maintain control of the cartridge throughout the entire cycle of operation: feeding, chambering, firing, extraction, and ejection.

Life comes at you fast. By the time we published our article about the Franklin Armory Antithesis, the ATF asked the company to bring back 5.56×45mm Antithesis units pending a new classification. Franklin Armory says it’s voluntarily requesting returns for a full refund on those 5.56 models.

In recent years, we’ve seen plenty of attempts to reimagine what a “firearm” can be under American law. Franklin Armory has introduced the Antithesis, a new short-barreled firearm that stands apart from traditional rifle and shotgun classifications. Two weeks ago, on The Rimfire Report, we took a pre-range look at the new Binary-Equipped Franklin Armory F-22 pistol. From the list of specifications and features, I concluded that this particular entry into the firearms market was meant specifically for those who are frustrated with 10/22 builds that aren’t capitalizing on the fun you can have with the  Franklin BFS III 22-C1 Binary Trigger. Over the last two weeks, I’ve had a couple of range trips with the new binary-equipped pistol, and today we’ll be going over what I’ve observed through about 1,500 rounds of mixed .22LR ammunition.

Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and all of its cool guns, ammo, shooting sports, and history. Today, we’re going to take a look at the recently released Franklin Armory Binary-Equipped F22 Pistol. This series is meant to give the end user a quick and easy way to the fun that binary triggers bring to a plinking day. Franklin Armory offered me the chance to check out the new series, and out of the two, I decided to check out the pistol. Today, I’ll walk you guys through a broad overview of the pistol before we take it to the range and see how it handles.

Military Armament Corp (MAC) has released new versions of their MAC-5 and MAC-5K pistols, now equipped with the Franklin Armory Binary Trigger (BFSIII HK-C1). For those who haven’t tried one, this three-position trigger system allows the firearm to fire one round on the pull and another on the release when set to its third position.

A new legal ruling has paved the way for the return of Franklin Armory’s Reformation. You may remember back in 2018 Franklin Armory launched the Reformation, an AR-15 with Franklin Armory’s patented straight cut land and groove rifling design. This placed the Reformation in a grey area of being neither a rifle nor a shotgun. Franklin Armory argued this meant that as simply a ‘firearm’ the Reformation was not subject to the NFA and could have a short barrel without requiring a Tax Stamp. In 2019, however, the ATF classified the Reformation as a GCA-only regulated short-barrel shotgun - last month this was overturned.

Franklin Armory and the Firearms Regulatory Accountability Coalition (FRAC) have scored a significant victory over the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) in the United States District Court of North Dakota. The action, brought on by the ATF's wrongful classification of the Franklin Armory Reformation and Antithesis firearms, led Judge Daniel M. Traynor to vacate the agency’s prior misclassifications and validate a well-known issue within the firearms industry and the Second Amendment community, that is, ATF abuse regarding firearm technology classification.

At SHOT Show 2025, Franklin Armory released a binary trigger for the FN SCAR family of rifles, the F22 Ruger 10/22 pattern rifle and pistol that will come with a binary trigger installed, the OPS-11 SBR and pistol added to their Osprey Defense piston-driven AR-15 series, and the 22EZ binary trigger for the Ruger 10/22. Let’s take a quick look at each of these new Franklin Armory products.

Ever since Franklin Armory unveiled its Binary Trigger kit for the Glock 17, the company has been inundated with calls and messages from customers demanding equal treatment for the Glock 19, which should come as no surprise as it is arguably the most popular carry gun in America. Franklin Armory has responded by announcing the availability of its patented Binary Firing System (BFS) for your Gen3 Glock 19.

Franklin Armory has released a new AR binary trigger called AR-ELITE. The main difference of the new trigger from other Franklin Armory binary triggers for AR-style rifles is that it has interchangeable trigger bows and comes with a straight and curved bow. The new AR-ELITE trigger has the same MSRP as the fixed bow binary trigger models (AR-S1 and AR-C1) and will replace them in the company’s catalog.
