Silencer Saturday #435: Father's Day Gift Guide 2026

Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday, brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the new Victra 20-gauge shotgun suppressor. This week, we are looking at some Father’s Day gift ideas for the dads in your life who love silencers. Gun products are very complicated and niche, so hopefully this gives you some ideas that can help you be his favorite kid this year.

Stealth Additive Works Tisha

We will start with the big one. This is probably over your budget, but if you feel like going all out, the Tisha is a very good choice. This silencer is one of the most hyped new releases in recent years. As a general rule, big silencers are quieter than small silencers. Adding internal volume is almost always going to make a silencer quieter because it provides more space for the firing gases to expand into.

The Tisha manages to be extremely quiet while also being very small. Silencer testing from PEW Science rates the Tisha highest in its class, though it is a compact can. That generated a lot of excitement and demand for these silencers. As of writing, there is an eight-week backlog of orders. So if you go this route, you will probably need to put a picture and the order information inside of your Father’s Day card instead of having the actual silencer in hand, but I promise, he won’t mind.

Armageddon Gear Hot Pocket

Silencers trap the hot gases created by burning gunpowder, which means they get very hot with use. Many of us have made the mistake of putting a hot silencer back into a bag or case, and then realizing we have made a mistake when we smell the burning fabric or melting plastic. There is a solution, though! The Armageddon Gear Hot Pocket is a special pouch that holds hot silencers and keeps them from melting other things in your dad’s shooting bag. Without a solution like this, your dad has to wait around for the silencer to cool off before he can leave the shooting range.

Silencer Cover

On the topic of hot silencers, heat buildup is an issue while using the gun as well, not just when it is time to come home. Apart from obvious risks like burning hands or legs or gun cases on a hot silencer, heat buildup also causes visual mirage. Just like the heatwaves we see coming off of a parking lot on a bright summer’s day, a hot silencer produces the same waves. But on a suppressor, that mirage is right in front of the sights or scope. This makes it very hard to see the target.

Thankfully, there are special covers that address these issues. The Burn Proof Gear Silencer Cover, Cole-Tac options, or versions from Armageddon Gear are all worth a look. This gift option will require some research on your part to find a cover that fits correctly on your dad’s silencer. Too big or too small, each causes its own problems, so be sure you are getting a compatible cover before ordering!

Alignment Rods

Alignment rods are special tools used to verify that a silencer fits squarely on the barrel. You see, if the silencer or barrel are out of alignment, bullets may hit the silencer instead of sailing smoothly through the hole in the middle. This is not good. Best case scenario, the silencer is damaged but repairable. Worst case scenario, the deflected bullet and/or parts of the silencer can hurt someone.

Specialized rods that are very precisely machined can check that alignment. The rod sits in the barrel and goes through the silencer. If it is not centered in the silencer bore, there could be problems. Geissele Alignment Rods are one of the most popular options, but there are others as well. This gift is best suited to a serious silencer user who has a lot of suppressors and host guns for them.

Subsonic Ammo

Regardless of what guns and silencers your dad owns, he could always use more ammunition. Silencers are quietest with ammunition that is slower than the speed of sound. For simplicity’s sake, under 1,100 feet per second (FPS) is a good rule of thumb. Depending on the caliber, subsonic ammunition can be common or uncommon.

You will need to know what caliber your dad shoots in order to get ammo he will use. Ammunition cannot be returned, so a misstep in purchasing can be a big problem (or it will give your dad a perfect excuse to buy a new gun). If you are not sure if a specific box of ammo is subsonic or not, the gun store employee should be able to fill you in.

PEW Science Membership

Is the father receiving this gift a serious data nerd? Does he read endlessly and study reviews before making a purchase? If so, a membership to PEW Science could be a gift he would enjoy. PEW Science tests silencers and prepares very technical reports on how the suppressors perform. Their tests of the Tisha suppressor mentioned above are the kind of information that helps people make informed buying decisions. While most of this information is free online, there are portions reserved for paying members only. And, if your dad is a true silencer nerd, he would probably enjoy supporting this kind of testing.

Muzzle Devices

One last item is a suppressor mounting muzzle device. Many silencers use a special flash hider or muzzle brake that secures the silencer to the gun for quick and easy attachment or detachment. This is another product that requires detailed info to get right. You will need to know what gun is being used, what silencer is being used, and what caliber the gun is chambered in. If that information is too hard to find, a gift card to a major silencer retailer like Silencer Shop could also work.

Thanks for joining us for another edition of Silencer Saturday. Feel free to leave this article pulled up on shared devices that your loved ones may have access to, if you want to stack the deck in your favor (I really tried with the Tisha; you are welcome). We will see you back here next week.
