Wheelgun Wednesday: Colt Anacondas Blued, Optic Ready & Enhanced Grips

TheFirearmBlog (TFB) was in attendance of SHOT Show 2026 and their Industry Day at the Range last week in Las Vegas, and we stumbled across an interesting find while at the Colt pistol bay: a blued Anaconda with enhanced grips and a factory optic. This is definitely not something on their website, and it is supremely rare to see factory-mounted red dots on revolvers. So, we tried to gather some more details for ya’ll!

Wheelgun Wednesday @ TFB:

We Knew These Were Coming… But Not Quite Like This…

We told you about blued Anacondas 6 weeks ago on a prior Wheelgun Wednesday, but we had no prior knowledge or information to know they would be dropping something like this at SHOT Show. The previous blued Colt Anacondas we covered had an MSRP of $1,699 for a 4.25”(ANACONDA-BP4WTS), 6” (ANACONDA-BP6WTS), and 8” (ANACONDA-BP8WTS) model.

Some of the most prominent features that Colt was touting for those blued Anacondas at the time were these attributes below.

Key Features for All Blued Anacondas:

  • Reimagined Finish: Crafted in carbon steel with a sleek, traditional blued finish for a refined, classic appearance.
  • Functional Design: Features a forged carbon steel frame with a polished finish and a matte top rib to reduce glare and enhance sight acquisition.
  • Enhanced Trigger System: Refined leaf-spring action delivers a nonstacking, smooth-as-glass trigger pull for improved control and accuracy.

Colt Anacondas - Blued, Optic Ready & Enhanced Grips

The blued Anacondas that we found at SHOT Show 2026 had a considerable amount different or upgraded to them. For reference, these are all of the specs that we obtained for what could be called the base model 6” Blued Anaconda.

Technical Specs

  • Unloaded Weight: 53 oz
  • Capacity: 6 Rounds
  • Frame: Carbon Steel with Blued Polished Finish
  • Barrel: 6” Barrel with 1 in 20” Left-Hand, 6-Groove Rifling
  • Overall Length: 13"
  • Overall Height: 6"
  • Overall Width: 1.75"
  • Sights: Red Ramp Front and Fully Adjustable Rear
  • Action Type: Double-Action (DA) and Single-Action (SA)
  • Trigger Pull: 7 - 9.5 Lb
  • Grips: Target Walnut, Gold Medallion
  • Model: ANACONDA-BP6WTS

What’s Different About This One?...

So, what is new about these new ones that we found out in the wild?... The optic plate appears to be something that they produce in-house, even though there are a lot of quality aftermarket options like those EGW (Evolution Gun Works) offers. The factory optic plate that Colt is selling off of their own website is the Python/Anaconda RMSc Plate for $79. We’ll make the fair assumption that Colt is going to be using their own optic plate on this revolver.

Next, the pairing that we saw at SHOT Show’s “Industry Day at the Range” was a Blued Anaconda mated with a Viridian RFX15 green dot, which sports a Shield RMS/RMSc footprint (compatible with Colt’s factory mount footprint). While it is uncertain if Colt is going to craft Anancondas that ship with a dot from the factory or not, the MSRP for the Viridian RFX15 green dot is $289.

As far as the grips that are enhanced on this SHOT Show model we found, these are likely an aftermarket grip that they decided to go with from Altamont. A model of grip off of Altamont’s website that would match what is on this revolver is their “ Colt Python Fingergroove Super Walnut Checkered with Silver Medallions LIC” retailing for $76. Everything matches perfectly except Altamont’s factory grip has a Silver Medallion, and not a Gold Medallion, like what we saw at SHOT Show.

Final Thoughts

I said “unsure” and “uncertain” more than I care to in this Wheelgun Wednesday because the folks at Colt didn’t have much for answers. No MSRP, it's not on their website, no spec sheet in their gun bay. It seemed like they were almost as surprised as us that these were sitting on their table.

If we extrapolate out what the potential price of these Anacondas could be, we are looking at something like this:

Grip $76 + Mount $79 + Green Dot $289 + Anaconda $1,699 = $2,143 Potential MSRP

Again, this is a complete guess and conjecture on my part. If the exact revolver we shot and handled at SHOT Show became a factory model, I’m sure it’d actually retail for something south of $2,000 (I hope). In any event, it is neat and exciting to see more wheelgun companies being adventurous and adding red dots/green dots to their revolvers.

As always, let us know all of your thoughts about Colt, their new blued Anaconda models, and anything else you have opinions on from their portfolio in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback and engagement.

Sure would be nice if Colt actually had the dang optics plates FOR SALE on their website; thanks for the heads up on Evolution Gun Works, but theirs aggravatingly requires extra drilling and tapping to use on current model Pythons.

Now if they will go back to also chambering them in .45 like the originals they will have something. I bought mine for about $410, IIRC.
