[SHOT 2026] Keeping Cool With Ambient Arms Suppressors
Ambient Arms had a range of new silencers on display at SHOT Show 2026. These suppressors incorporate an interesting air cooling system that fights heat buildup. Keep reading for all the details.

The Ambiet Intake System is a proprietary system that helps mitigate suppressor heat. Intake ports on the outer surface of the silencer allow cold air to be pulled in by low pressure areas within the suppressor. This works sort of like the air cooling on a PKP machine gun, but using the pressures within the silencer to draw the cold air. This reduced heat by up to 75% at the front of the suppressor and 60% at the rear. One demo from SHOT Show was a 30-round mag dump from an M4, after which the shooter held the gun by the silencer bare handed.
The Exo 556 is a titanium silencer that weighs in at 14.5 ounces without a HUB mount. It has been tested down to 10.3-inch barrels and is full-auto rated. And though it is a 5.56 silencer, it is safe for use with 6mm ARC as well. MSRP for this model is $1349. The Exo 5.56i Mini silencer is an Inconel 3D printed suppressor that weighs 19.4 ounces without a HUB mount, or 21.3 ounces with the mount. MSRP for this model is $1399.
Ambient Arms also offers the Stratos 22 rimfire suppressor. It weighs only 4.5 ounces and is compatible with .22LR, .22 Magnum, .17 HMR, and 5.7x28. Like the Exo silencers, it also incorporates the Ambiet Intake System. MSRP for this model is $499.
All three Ambient Arms silencers are available for purchase through Silencer Shop now.
From Ambient Arms:
Ambient Arms’ patent-pending Ambient Intake™ System features intake ports that pair with strategic low‑pressure zones to draw cool air directly into the suppressor. This intake mixes ambient air with hot muzzle gases to greatly reduce operating temperatures, decimate the report of your rifle by at the muzzle and the shooter's ear, as well as mitigate unwanted blowback. Ambient suppressors also feature a radically new shock wave management system that delivers best-in-class bullet release dynamics and impact precision – resulting in tighter, more repeatable shot groupings under real‑world conditions.
