Royal Marines from 42 Commando drop onto the flight deck of HMS Richmond during fast rope training, working alongside 820 and 815 Naval Air Squadrons as part of Operation Highmast. The training is aboard HMS Prince of Wales, the UK’s flagship, leading the Royal Navy’s key 2025 deployment.

As TFB has reported before, more than 1,500 Sig Sauer MCX rifles have been purchased by the Navy, enabled by Edgar Brothers, as part of continued investment in the Commando Force.

Operation Highmast is an eight-month Carrier Strike Group mission that will carry British forces and their allies through the Mediterranean, Middle East, and into the western Pacific.

With participants from over a dozen nations, the deployment involves over 4,500 UK personnel, including Royal Marines, Royal Navy sailors, RAF aircrew, and British Army soldiers, demonstrating joint capability, regional commitment, and global partnerships.
