Mimic Your Match Rifle Loads With Hornady Aeromatch Bullets
Can’t find your favorite non-Hornady match rifle bullets in stock anywhere? Hornady may have a solution for that with the new Aeromatch lineup. This range of bullets matches the aerodynamic profile and shape of your favorite other load. Without changing your load, or die setup, or dope chart, these Hornady bullets can substitute right in.

There are six bullet options in the Aeromatch line. If you are a reloader you may notice these bullet diameters and weights line up with other projectiles you are familiar with:
- .224 diameter, 69-grain BTHP
- .224 diameter, 77-grain BTHP
- 6mm diameter, 105-grain compound profile
- 6.5mm diameter, 140-grain compound profile
- .308 diameter, 168-grain BTHP
- .308 diameter, 175-grain BTHP
All of these bullet options will be sold in 500-round boxes with sequentially-produced bullets, for minimal variation between bullets. Shooters looking for even larger lots of bullets can buy a 3,000-round case, containing six 500-round boxes, each sequentially produced.
From the manufacturer:
“Match-proven bullet profiles that shooters love, now perfected by Hornady!
The new AEROMATCH™ bullets feature the most popular match bullet profiles and weights from across the industry – now perfected and available from Hornady. Small batches of 3000 sequential bullets will be available for the high-volume shooter in case quantities featuring six 500-count boxes. Individual 500-count boxes will also be available.”
Hornady has not released availability timelines or price points for the Aeromatch bullets yet. Still, hopefully, these will live up to the promise of being perfect matches for other popular bullets. If so, it should get a lot easier to find components when there are shortages.
