H&R Launches Model 606 LMG
PSA's retro brand Harrington & Richardson is now shipping one of the new models we saw at SHOT Show 2026. The Model 606 is a faithful recreation of one of the first M16-based squad automatic weapons. It also seems like an ideal candidate for a forced reset trigger.

The Model 606 was a development of the early M-16. Unlike those early guns, the 606 used a heavy barrel contour to cope with the firing schedule of a light machine gun. It also incorporated the M2 folding bipod found on the M-14. Even with that bipod and the heavier barrel, the Model 606 still only weighs nine pounds.
The H&R Model 606 retails for $1,249 and is in stock now.

Now, PSA should work on these two: The 621 and the 750, aka, the Colt Canada (Diemaco) variant. They brought a non-firing model around 2020 or 2021, but nothing has been heard of; so, Let's go, Brandon!
We have one enduring legacy of squad automatic weapon (SAW) , aka light machine gun, and this Colt example joins the BAR and the Mini Mag M249 version LMG...all half great solutions but none really does the mission. The British used the Bren LMG and it was in fact a squad automatic weapon.
I hope someday in my life time a SAW that works , is in the Army and Marine rifle squads . Never Say Never
The SAW was a victim of army stupidity.
First SAWs are now closing in on being 40 years old and they are just old and worn out.
Second, the army decided to remove the Gas Switch on the gas tube so soldiers wouldn't fire it on the high pressure setting. That setting was meant only to blow out excess carbon in combat situations,
Third the army screwed up the machine that loads the belted ammo putting it behind 6+ months. Seems like someone thought the cartridge diminutions for the original 5.56 were good enough to use in designing the new loading machine.
Fourth the army found out that the planned use of mags was a NO GO because the Army likes to buy aluminum mags. Using them only once in a rifle caused the ammo retaining lips to spread to a point that they were unusable in a SAW. The ammo feed lip on the mag caused more issues. Im sure there were many more issues I didnt hear about.
If I were H&R I'd market this with a drum-type magazine where allowed. It would seem more in keeping with the SAW presentation. Anyone can swap out for a 20 or 30rd mag. as needed.
