CCI’s line of rimfire ammo continues to expand. The new Suppressor Max .22 LR ammo combines a segmented hollow point bullet with subsonic velocities. It is also designed to cycle in semiautomatic firearms, so those pesky squirrels can’t get away if you miss the initial shot.

CCI @ TFB:

CCI lists a muzzle velocity of 970 FPS, which is safely below the speed of sound. The 45-grain projectile is a segmented hollow point that offers expansion on target, even at subsonic velocities. The ballistic coefficient is .125, and it puts up 94 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle and retains 73 foot pounds out to 100 yards. It comes packaged in boxes of 100 rounds and retails for $18.99. It does not appear to be in stock at any retailers, but in-stock notifications are available on the CCI website.

From the manufacturer:

“CCI Ammunition is proud to announce the all-new Suppressor Max 22 LR. This small game load is specifically designed for optimal accuracy, terminal performance, and noise reduction when fired through rimfire suppressors. The hollow-point bullet ensures effective segmentation on impact—even at its low-decibel, subsonic 970 feet per second muzzle velocity. This new product is currently being delivered to retailers nationwide.
“Whisper-quiet yet powerful rimfire performance is now within reach,” said CCI’s Rimfire Product Line Manager Steve Monniere. “CCI Suppressor Max delivers excellent accuracy, and our proven segmenting hollow-point bullet also provides exceptional terminal performance. More and more shooters and hunters are opting for suppressed firearms, and they will all love this new 45-grain 22 LR option.”

"The 45-grain projectile is a segmented hollow point that offers expansion on target, even at subsonic velocities.". I'll have to see that to believe it. Either way, at .20 per round out the door it's a classic "the juice isn't worth the squeeze" decision for me.
