With this grenade launcher, the XM7 battle rifle allegedly replacing the M4, and the .338 Norma mag machine gun possibly replacing the M240, future infantry squads are definitely going to need mechs or exosuits to carry all the heavy equipment.

Or maybe these programs are going nowhere.

Weight wise a fully loaded XM7 is about 13 lbs. that rifle, suppressor, Optic, ammo. If you add on a VFG and a minidot maybe 14-15 lbs. that’s heavier than a a naked M4A1 but if you start kitting out the same way that’s not as big a weight difference. If you look at the USMC’s M27 in its current configuration it’s about 13 lbs. US army is officially not replacing the M240 with the MG338, they are replacing the M249 with the XM250 which may also replace some M240s. If the Army did move to adopt the MG338 it would be in the weapons squad as a crew served. The biggest issue is the ammunition weight but for the MG338 that’s between two men.

    "Contact, 20 meters left!"

"Dangit! Hold up, guys--" [fumbles with bandolier full of magazines] "Gimme a second, just need to find the CQB shells, hold on..."

@Lcon I agree. There are probably better counters to light drones like jammers, but if I had to choose an anti-drone weapon, it would probably be a KAC masterkey or just a short barreled semiautomatic shotgun. I just think this grenade launcher suffers from having too many differing roles.
