The French Special Forces unit GIGN and Swiss ammunition manufacturer SwissP Defence have signed an agreement to jointly develop new 6.5 Grendel cartridges. The rounds are intended to meet GIGN’s operational needs and will be offered in three variants: FMJ, Styx Action, and Target. As you may notice, the Beretta NARP is shown above, chambered in 6.5 Grendel.

The rounds have the following characteristics: FMJ - for reliable training and operations. Styx Action - with controlled deformation for tactical applications. Target - for maximum accuracy at long ranges.

"This cooperation is an important step in the further development of our ammunition technology," says the CEO of SwissP Defence. "The GIGN is one of the world's leading special forces and places the highest demands on its equipment. Together we are creating a cartridge that sets new standards in performance and reliability".

A GIGN representative adds: "Working closely with SwissP Defence allows us to develop a customised solution that further enhances our operational capability. The 6.5 Grendel will be a decisive factor for future operations".

The partnership underlines SwissP Defence's commitment to developing state-of-the-art ammunition for tactical forces and driving innovation in ballistic performance.

GIGN is a French special forces unit founded in 1974, focused on counter-terrorism and organized crime. Its members receive extensive training and the unit plays a key role in national security.

SwissP Defence is a Swiss company based in Thun that produces small-calibre ammunition for military and law enforcement use. It is part of Beretta Holding and Beretta Defense Technologies, which also includes firearms, optics, and related equipment. SwissP is known for its precision ammunition used by professional shooters and special forces worldwide.

It’s been some time since I heard about the 6.5 Grendel, but as some may recall from my interview with Top Gunner of the US IPSC Rifle senior team Keith Garcia, they used the round with success at last year’s Rifle World Shoot in Finland.

I can't even imagine what the price would be for this ammo assuming you could even get it in the US.

If the Swiss lower their tariffs to the US, then we would lower our tariffs and we could possibly see some of this imported to the US.

YES!!! More 6.5 Grendel always tickles my pickle, makes my oyster moister, dubs my chub, and so on and so forth.

I'm sure we'll never see it stateside but I would love to try it. I have some SwissP match grade 5.56 and it is good stuff.
