POTD: AKS-74U and SG552 - Beach Ballistics

Thanks to Beach Ballistics we have a pretty fancy Photo Of The Day to share. In my opinion the AKS-74U is the coolest AK ever, but I admit I’ve never fired one and probably never will. A friend of mine owns a Swiss SIG SG552, so I’m more familiar with that. All I could wish for was a better trigger and a free-floating barrel, but I guess it works for grunts and the special forces alike so who am I to complain?
The SIG runs a 20 round transparent magazine, in case you wonder why it looks shorter than normal.
Please feel free to study and comment on the similarities and variations in the design and mechanisms.
Wood or plastic? Russian or Swiss?
There’s only one question left to answer. If you could only pick one, which one would it be and why?

i have the full size 556 and shoots very good my choice the 552
It would all depend on the weapon’s intended purpose;
a. If I needed a “working” gun for duty that’s Intended as a tool (and not a “weekend toy,” arguably the best choice is the SG552.
b. If I wanted a historically accurate AKSU74 for fun, collecting, displaying, etc. I’d certainly choose the AKSU74.
