Barrett is Developing an MRAD Chambered in 6.8x51mm

Barrett Firearms Manufacturing Inc. have announced an ongoing program to develop a 6.8x51mm caliber conversion kit for the Barrett MRAD MK 22 Advanced Sniper Rifle system. The MRAD MK 22 is currently fielded by the U.S. Army and can currently be chambered in .338 Norma Magnum, .300 Norma Magnum and 7.62x51mm.

Barrett Unveils “Two .50s for 250” Rifle Series

Barrett has begun shipping its America’s 250th Series limited edition rifles, a commemorative release tied to the upcoming U.S. Semiquincentennial. Production is capped at 500 rifles total, split evenly between two .50 BMG platforms: the Barrett Model 82A1 and the Barrett M107A1.

NIOA Group and Barrett Announce $80 Million Factory in Tennessee

The NIOA Group has announced plans for a new state-of-the-art facility for their subsidiary comapny Barrett Firearms Manufacturing Inc. which they say “is set to redefine excellence in weapon systems manufacturing” and deliver economic growth to Tennessee. The new $76.4 million dollar manufacturing facility is set to open in early 2027. The news of NIOA Groups investment into Barrett in Tennessee was announced formally by the Department of Tennessee Economic and Community Development on 21 March.

Colombian Army Picks Barrett MRAD Rifles and AM338 Suppressors

The Colombian National Army has awarded Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, Inc. its largest international military contract for the purchase of MRAD sniper rifles and AM338 suppressors. Deliveries are set to begin in the summer of 2025. MRAD is short for Multi-Role Adaptive Design. Mars Inc. is one of two companies which the US Army have selected as finalists for the Precision Grenadier System competition. PGS seeks to engage targets at ranges from 35 to 500+ meters using a variety of grenades including a Counter Defilade (behind cover) round, a Close Quarters Battle round (the SSRs’ is similar to a shotgun round) a counter UAS (drone) round and an Armor-Piercing round.

What a beast of a rifle in today’s Photo Of The Day. We’re talking about the MRADELR, made by Barrett which was introduced about one year ago. As you may know, Barrett has secured their first international government contract with the MRAD Extreme Long Range (MRADELR) sniper system. It’s not yet official who the customer is, but if you see someone looking for large numbers of 416 Barrett it might be a clue.
