Beretta Celebrates 500 Years Premiering the Titan One-Off
As TFB readers may be aware, Fabbrica d’Armi Pietro Beretta of Italy holds the title of world’s oldest firearm manufacturer, dating its roots as early as the year 1526. The current year is therefore the 500th anniversary of the birth of the company, a milestone that Beretta is celebrating in style. Besides the rather expected limited edition shotguns, the Italian company is debuting an intriguing Modern Sporting Rifle.
The Rimfire Report: Back to Basics With the 10/22 & CCI Standard
In my ongoing ammunition testing series here on The Rimfire Report, a lot of you have said that you’d rather see me test most of this ammo out of a more normal gun, like a plain old Ruger 10/22. For 2026, we’re going to be doing exactly that. In the upcoming months, we’ll be going back through our already tested ammunition, but this time put it through a setup that is far more accessible for most firearm owners. While I would have loved to do this long ago, most of my 10/22s were held up in other builds, but I’ve finally been able to acquire a bone-stock Ruger 10/22 Sporter, which MSRPs these days for a very reasonable $359. We’ll get into the build specifics below, but for now, let me know what budget-oriented or reasonably priced ammo you’d like to see run through this new setup next.
Kodiak Defence Offers Alcor Mods For Those Who Can't Buy ARs
Got AR? Not if you live in Canada, you don’t. Or you won’t for long, because the federal government is requiring citizens to hand their registered ARs in, a move that’s been in the works since the gun bans of early 2020. But since Canadians still like firearms even if their government doesn’t, they’ve looked at other options, including the made-in-Turkey AKDAS Alcor rifle—and now Kodiak Defence is working on parts to make it better-suited for tactical work.
[SHOT 2026] An FG42 Or Walther WA2000 For Everyone
One of the coolest things about the SHOT Show basement is noticing unique firearms that just aren’t mainstream. Like, say, a scaled-down FG42 that’s chambered in 9x19mm and takes Glock mags. Or a Walther WA2000 clone that you can actually afford. The crew from Rhineland Arms had both on display this year—here’s what they’re about.
[SHOT 2026] Ruger Goes All-In On *Almost* Everything
When it comes to American firearms manufacturers, few have a lineup as wide as Ruger’s. Their SHOT Show booth was a packed madhouse when I checked in on Wednesday for that reason—they have something for almost everyone, so everyone goes to visit. And almost all of those lines saw some additions for 2026. Here’s a look at what’s new (or kind of new) this year—except for the Harrier AR-15, which we already told you about here. We will be taking a separate look at that rifle later.
[SHOT 2026] Winchester SXR2 Semi-Auto Rifle Keeps The Fudd Dream Alive
We live in a tactical world; SHOT Show is filled with ARs and AKs and PCCs, with rails and lights and suppressors and a host of other geegaws bolted on. If you just want an old-fashioned wood-and-steel gun to go hunting with, it’s getting harder and harder to find. Winchester still plays in this field, and they introduced a new SXR2 semi-auto hunting rifle at SHOT Show 2026. But it’s hard to say just how new it really is.
New Savage Arms A22 and B Series Timber Tactical Rifles
Savage Arms has released the A22 and B Series Timber Tactical rimfire rifles, looking lovely in any of their combinations. These rifles feature an OD Green Laminate stock, designed to withstand tough conditions while maintaining traditional functionality. The stock includes a vertical grip for enhanced control during shooting and a rear hook for added stability. Dual forward sling studs provide versatile carrying options in the field, or if you prefer a bipod attachment at the front.
The Rimfire Report: Beretta Olympia – The Dual-Action Italian Trainer
Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world, its many guns, and, of course, all the other cool topics surrounding one of my all-time favorite cartridges. This week’s subject comes courtesy of yet another GunBroker Auction gun that sparked a bit of digging. When it comes to rimfire rifles with true historical character, the Beretta Olympia .22LR is an almost entirely unique firearm when compared to today’s world of semi-auto plinkers. The Olympia’s claim to fame is its ability to function as both a semi-automatic and a bolt-action rifle, giving shooters two ways to train all contained within one very handsome “classical target weapon.”
The Rimfire Report: New Distributor Exclusive Ruger 10/22 Rifles
Welcome back to The Rimfire Report, our weekly article series dedicated to everything related to the rimfire primer/ignition design. One of the most iconic rimfire rifles is no doubt the Ruger 10/22. In production since 1964, this semi-automatic rimfire rifle has been a tremendous success for the company. Millions of Ruger 10/22s have been produced over the past 61 years, and Ruger continues to introduce new models, as well as exclusive versions available only through specific distributors. In this edition of The Rimfire Report, we’ll take a look at the seven newest distributor-exclusive Ruger 10/22 rifles.
Fudd Friday: Wood-And-Steel Semi-Autos For Deer Season
We get it. The AR-15 rules supreme in the U.S. market. But even though the AR series has been around since the 1950s, when Eugene Stoner brought the AR-10 and other designs to market, a lot of us are still happy to shoot a rifle with a wood stock and traditional ergonomics—and bang-bang-bang rapid-fire capability. You don’t see a lot of hype from the industry for Fudd-tastic semi-autos, but they’re still quite desirable to some hunters. Here’s a quick summary of what’s available on the new and used market.
Kaliber Tech KT10 Longbow .300 WSM / 6.5 PRC Semi-Auto Rifle
The .300 Winchester Short Magnum and 6.5 Precision Rifle Cartridge are pretty popular among long-range shooters and hunters, providing a magnum performance in a much shorter package. Most of the guns chambered in these cartridges are bolt-action rifles, however, if you want a gas gun in .300 WSM or 6.5 PRC, there is at least one (likely the only) option on the market - the Kaliber Tech KT10 Longbow semi-auto rifle. The company claims the KT10 Longbow is the first commercially available semi-auto rifle chambered in 6.5 PRC and 300 WSM.
[DEFEA 2025] Armenian Maktes Arms T-AB 2A DMR Rifle
At the DEFEA 2025 exhibition in Athens, Greece, the Armenian company Maktes Arms is presenting its new semi-automatic designated marksman rifle called the T-AB 2A. Just like the bullpup rifle I previously wrote about, this DMR is modular and allows the user to change barrel length and caliber.

[SHOT 2025] Iver Johnson Builds A PCC (Again)
Iver Johnson is dusting off one of their old ideas and revamping it for 2025. Remember the old 1911A1 Carbine? It’s back, sort of, and it’s updated for 2025.
TFB Review: TYPE A M110 Restomod
Welcome back to another TFB review. In my last review, I took a look at the SIG Sauer MCX Spear LT and if you happened to miss that article, be sure to click the link here to check it out. There've been a number of large framed AR10s to hit the market. Knights Armament made the absolute iconic M110 but never really offered something similar to the civilian market. There are a number of companies that make models similar to the original M110 with modern upgrades. I decided to purchase a TYPE A M110 Restomod to see what it's all about. After a year of ownership, I decided it was the right time to give my thoughts on my experiences.
Special Edition 10/22 Reminds You To Vote
In case you’ve been living under a rock and have missed the news, 2024 is a presidential election year in the United States—and to celebrate the right to vote, we now have a new special-edition rifle from Ruger. This entry into Ruger’s Seventh Edition Collector’s Series is officially known as the Vote 2024 10/22 Carbine.
Olympus Arms Vulcan "Zero Recoil AR-10" Review
In this video, I, James Reeves, give you my honest and unfiltered review of the Olympus Arms Vulcan AR with its innovative reciprocating barrel system. After two years of covering this gun at the SHOT Show, where it generated tons of excitement, it was finally time to put the Vulcan to the test. Spoiler alert: I was let down—big time. While the design is groundbreaking and promises reduced recoil, things went south quickly during my testing. At $6,800, this is a huge disappointment, and I’m here to give you the full story. This is simultaneously one of the most innovative and underwhelming rifles I’ve ever reviewed. Watch and decide for yourself if the Vulcan is worth the price.
Crusader Arms Crypto: New "Not An AR" From Canada
If there’s one thing that Canadian firearms manufacturers are good at, it’s figuring out how to best deliver their country’s shooters what they want while still playing within a constantly changing federal rulebook. That’s how we get the new Crusader Arms Crypto—a semi-auto rifle that’s not an AR, but offers similar functionality and looks, and accepts many of the same parts.
The Rimfire Report: The "Gill Gun" - Springfield Model 87A .22 Rifle
Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and all of its different types of guns, shooting sports, ammunition, and history! Last week we took a look at CCI’s 22 CB 22-Shorts. These quiet little varmint-hunting cartridges were pretty popular centuries ago but today it seems that most people have adopted modern loads that can provide more power and better accuracy at more economical pricing. However, many of you in the comments noted that the Shorts are perfect for helping new shooters get acclimated to firearms, or great for some quiet and casual backyard plinking with something like a lever gun or single-shot rifle. This week we’re looking at a rifle that’s closer in age to the original 22 CB - the Savage/Stevens Model 87A also fondly known as a “Gill Gun.” Gill guns are a slightly broader category of firearm like you’ll see today, but we’ll primarily be focused on the Model 87A 22LR Semiautomatic rifle and its variants.
Desert Tech Releases Trek-22 Rifle As a Complete Firearm
At SHOT Show 2022, Desert Tech introduced a unique-looking bullpup stock for the Ruger 10/22, the Trek-22. This polymer stock encases the donor rifle action, offering a relatively traditional layout in a really compact package. Now Desert Tech has opted to offer this option in a complete firearm, the Trek-22 Rifle.
Volquartsen's 'Superlite' 22LR Steel Challenge Rifle
Luke C @BallisticAviation is back at GunCon 2024 hosted by @brownells & @TheGunCollective to talk with Volquartsen head honcho Scott Volquartsen about his "Superlite" 10/22 pattern rifle, as well as the suppressor-oriented "Mini Scorpion" pistol. With the massive reduction in wait times for suppressors, Volquartsen has been putting in a lot of work to update its 22lr offerings to cater to those who want to shoot suppressed rimfire.
