Wheelgun Wednesday: Samson Manufacturing - Enhanced Ejector Rod

Welcome back to another Wheelgun Wednesday where we are traipsing our way through the world of revolvers checking out the weird and wonderful happenings surrounding them. Something that recently caught my eye wasn’t a new wheelgun offering; rather, a small upgrade to some single-action offerings from Ruger. Samson Manufacturing creates Enhanced Ejector Rods for various single-action models to upgrade your reload performance on an otherwise cumbersome process.

Wheelgun Wednesday @ TFB:

Samson Manufacturing - Whatchu Got up your Sleeve?...

So, the actual name of the product from Samson Manufacturing is an Enhanced Ejector Rod. These are simple yet meaningful upgrades to ensure a cleaner, smoother, and more swift process in ejecting spent casings from various single-action revolvers. All of the options that Samson Manufacturing has have an MSRP of $24.50 direct from Samson Manufacturing’s website.

Samson makes 2 categories of Enhanced Ejector Rods. The first works with all of these more full-size esque single-action revolver models from Ruger including Ruger® Wrangler®, Super Wrangler®, New Model Single-Six®, Vaquero®, Black Hawk® or Super Black Hawk®

  • Crescent Matte Stainless
  • Crescent Black Oxide
  • Bullseye Matte Stainless
  • Bullseye Black Oxide

The next category they offer in their Enhanced Ejector Rods are for smaller-framed single-action revolvers like the Ruger Birdshead® .22 LR.

  • Crescent Matte Stainless for Ruger Wrangler with a Birdshead grip
  • Crescent Black Oxide for Ruger Wrangler with a Birdshead grip
  • Bullseye Matte Stainless for Ruger Wrangler with a Birdshead grip
  • Bullseye Black Oxide for Ruger Wrangler with a Birdshead grip

Samson Manufacturing Enhanced Ejector Rods - The Rundown

Being as Samson Manufacturing is big into milling and crafting replacement components from scratch, it will come as no surprise that these ejector rods are fabricated from stainless steel and tout Black Oxide, Stainless, or Matte Stainless finishes.

  • Material: Stainless Steel
  • Finish (Button): Black Oxide, Stainless, or Matte Stainless
  • Length: 4” (Standard) | 3.3" (Birdshead specific rods)
  • Width: 0.42”
  • Height: 0.77” (Bullseye) | 0.82” (Crescent)
  • Diameter: 0.156” (Rod)
  • Weight: 0.5 oz

Samson Manufacturing Enhanced Ejector Rods - The Upsell

The biggest upsell or sales pitch for you to spend your hard-earned money on these Enhanced Ejector Rods is that you are affording a larger surface area on the button to actuate the ejector rod. Then, if your revolver is incredibly gross and gummy from having not cleaned it regularly (I mean, who would allow that to happen…), then you can still eject spent casings and keep on shooting at the range with ease.

  • Works with the following Ruger® single action revolvers: Wrangler® and New Model Single-Six®. Birdshead specific rods are available as well.
  • Will not impact compatibility with most leather holsters
  • Increased button surface area
  • Proudly made in New Hampshire, USA

What does Samson Manufacturing have to say about their Enhanced Ejector Rods?

While I can inform you and regale you about the properties of this product all day long, it is sometimes best to receive the info straight from the horse’s mouth. So, here is what Samson Manufacturing has to say about their new Enhanced Ejector Rods for single-action wheelguns:

“The Samson Enhanced Ejector Rod instantly upgrades your Ruger® Wrangler®, Super Wrangler®, New Model Single-Six®, Vaquero®, Black Hawk® or Super Black Hawk® or Birdshead® .22 LR single action revolver.
With a larger button, ejecting spent .22 cases is much easier and faster, speeding up the reloading process. Choose either Bullseye and Crescent shaped button in either stainless or black oxide finish to best match your revolver. The ejector components are made of stainless steel for outstanding durability and longevity.”

Departing Thoughts

So, it begs the question: should you - or should you not - buy these Enhanced Ejector Rods for your wheelgun?... In my eyes, at the price of $24.50, these definitely seem like they would be worth it. Most of the models that these will fit are rimfire revolvers which can be notorious for being bucky, grimey, and having casings become semi-stuck due to all rimfire ammo being dirtier than their centerfire counterparts. Even if you own a centerfire revolver that these would be applicable towards, I would probably buy one because I never clean my guns regularly like we all are supposed to (don’t act surprised).

But what say you?... Would you purchase one of these for your ultra-affordable Ruger Wrangler to kick up the performance a bit? Or, would you simply pass on it because you want to keep your cheap wheelgun cheap? We always enjoy your riveting banter.

As always, let us know all of your thoughts about Samson Manufacturing and their Enhanced Ejector Rods in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.

Now, how about single actions with the loading port on the left side? Most of us are right handed, a left side port makes more sense. Elmer Keith did it.

Seems like a good replacement for the ejector in the Ruger Wrangler. I've broken a couple of those. If you release the ejector from close to the fully compressed position, eventually the handle (or whatever you want to call it) will break off. I fixed this by adding a small, leather buffer, but making the part out of good steel should fix it, too.
