Southern Precision Outdoors’ Thermal Revolution with AGM’s Latest

Hunting at night demands more than just patience; it demands gear that delivers clarity, reliability, and accuracy when it matters most. If you’re in the market for top-tier thermal scopes or thinking of upgrading, Southern Precision Outdoors (SPO) is here for you. Family-owned, they field-test everything, blending real-world experience with cutting-edge technology. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at Southern Precision Outdoors as a company, the new AGM Rattler V3 50-640 LRF thermal rifle scope in particular, and the AGM Adder V2 lineup overall, and how their Thermal & Night Vision Trade-In Program can help you transfer your old gear into new.
Who is Southern Precision Outdoors?
Southern Precision Outdoors is a family-owned business based in Middle Georgia, deeply rooted in hunting, predator control, and optics. Hunters, prostaff, managers of lands and livestock: the people behind SPO aren’t just salespeople, they live the nighttime grind year-round, so if they look a bit tired, you know they’ve been out all night. They test the thermals and night-vision units that they carry in real scenarios: in hog and predator hunts, different field conditions and in varying climates. While based in Georgia, SPO ships broadly and works with hunters in many states.
Showcasing the Latest from AGM: The Rattler V3 50-640 LRF Thermal Rifle scope
One of the standout offerings from Southern Precision Outdoors is the new AGM Rattler V3 50-640 Thermal Scope, with a built-in laser rangefinder (LRF) and ballistic calculator. Powered by a 640x512 resolution, 12μm thermal sensor, and with an ultra-sensitive
The Rattler V3 integrates a 1,000-yard laser rangefinder directly into the lens, eliminating the need for an external add-on. Paired with an onboard ballistic calculator, it provides instant holdover data for accurate shots, like pursuing coyotes in open fields or hogs in dense brush. The 2560x2560 OLED display offers nearly double the pixel density of previous models, with an 80% larger viewable area, ensuring crisp details at a 3.5x base magnification with digital zoom up to 28x. The detection range on most modern high-end thermals should be more than enough for anyone, and this one reaches up to 2.2 miles.
Anyone who ever used a thermal knows how irritating that clicking sound—and the freezing of the image stream momentarily—can be. The V3 uses a shutterless Non-Uniformity Correction (NUC), which prevents screen freezes during calibration, and users can toggle between rectangular or semi-circular display formats for customized viewing.
Color palettes now include red and green monochrome options alongside classics like White Hot, Black Hot, and Fusion, reducing eye strain on extended hunts. For tech-savvy users, it boasts 64 GB of internal memory for audio/video recording, including Shot-Activated Recording (SAR), and Wi-Fi connectivity via the AGM Connect App for live streaming, footage review, and remote adjustments.
Built tough with a magnesium alloy chassis, the Rattler V3 is IP67 waterproof and shockproof, and runs over 5.5 hours on a removable rechargeable battery. There's USB-C external power support as well, in case you forgot to power your V3 the day before, or for when you don’t really want to go home at all. The V3 ships with an American Defense Manufacturing single-lever QD mount and a 5-year transferable warranty.

AGM Adder V2 Thermal Rifle Scopes: What to Know
While the V3 is the flagship model in many respects, the AGM Adder V2 lineup offers solid performance for those who want an AGM thermal with great specs, possibly at somewhat lower cost or slightly different feature balances than the V3.
Overall, the Adder V2 line runs resolutions in the 384 / 640 / 1280 sizes, depending on the model. Some versions include LRF, others focus purely on imaging. The choice is yours. If you need advice as to whether you need the LRF or not, or which resolution suits you best, you know who to talk to.

The V2s have been around for some time and provide a more affordable path if you do not need every feature of the Rattler V3. Not everyone owns a Ranch where you need over two miles of detection, but it’s also nice to drive a Porsche Turbo even if you’re not on the Autobahn.
The AGM Adder V2 lineup starts at around $2,695, but it’s still possible to go all out, with the AGM Adder V2 LRF 60-1280 (shown below) costing $7,695. If you haven’t tried an HD thermal yet, you’re in for a real treat and a whole new experience. Trust me!
If you already own a Rattler V2 and you’re thinking about the V3, SPO has a convenient blog post with a lot of details, including real hunting examples.
Trade-In Program
In more than one sense, this leads us to the last part of the story. One of SPO’s strengths is helping customers move up to newer, better gear, without feeling stuck with outdated optics. This reaches further out than just talking.
Here’s how their Thermal & Night Vision Trade-In Program works:
- They accept trade-ins of most thermal scopes / night vision devices. You submit what you have, they give a quote.
- Once the value is assessed and approved, that value is issued as credit, which can be applied toward a new purchase, including the Rattler V3 or Adder V2.
- It’s designed to be a simple & fast process: you tell them your current unit, its condition, send pictures if needed, etc. SPO handles the inspection.
- Trade-ins mean less financial friction when stepping up to more advanced optics. It’s especially helpful because thermal / night vision tech improves quickly: new sensors, displays, connectivity, etc., are always coming.
For many hunters, this means you can get a lot more value out of your current gear, rather than just letting it sit, and then pay less out of pocket when getting something like the Rattler V3.
