[SHOT 2025] Taylor’s And Co. Has New 9mm Lever TC73 In Production

Do you want a classic lever-action rifle chambered in 9x19mm? While that may sound like an oxymoron, that’s exactly what Taylor’s and Co. brought out a few months back, and now, the TC73 rifle is on display at SHOT Show as they kickstart production.

A different take on traditional
The idea of a lever-action chambered in something other than traditional rimmed cowboy cartridges is nothing new. Browning has made the BLR for decades, and more recently, companies like Henry have followed that pattern. But in every case, these companies build new actions to handle the newer cartridge designs.
In the case of this new TC73 rifle from Taylor’s and Co., it’s actually a Model 1873-pattern design—an older lever-action that sees some mechanical changes to accommodate the newer 9x19mm cartridge. Mag capacity is 10 rounds. Except for the threaded muzzle, there’s nothing about this rifle that really screams “modernized” at first glance. It has case coloring on a steel frame like an old-school lever-action, and the buckhorn sights and walnut stocks are all very much in-line with a rifle you’d see built 100 years ago, or more.
We’ve known about this rifle’s impending arrival since spring of 2024, but despite its earlier launch, the public hasn’t had their hands on the new gun yet, as the company had to work out some engineering issues with the design.
According to Taylor’s and Co. staff, those issues have now been solved and the rifle is in production in “a Midwest location.” Does that mean Chicago? Minneapolis? It’s all very mysterious, and they won’t tell us exactly where.
A pricey toy
The TC73 is still listed as “Out of Stock” on the Taylor’s and Co. website. They told us they anticipate beginning shipping sometime in February, with full availability in April or May of 2025.
When it shows up, the TC73 will carry an MSRP of $1,999; not cheap, but less money than they initially expected, at least. For more details, check out their website here.

A better use of your money than the Tombstone, that's for sure.
Why on earth would a very nice reproduction of a classic style rifle have a threaded barrel?
