Dead Air Silencers has a new model of the Sandman silencer for 2025. The Sandman X adds low backpressure features and a new material to build on the Sandman’s legacy. It may share a name with the original, but it is an almost entirely new beast.

SHOT 2025 @ TFB:

The Sandman X builds on the earlier Sandman designs by adding new features developed in other Dead Air silencers over the last few years. The Mojave 9mm silencer’s Triskelion baffles and 3D-printed construction, Nomad rifle silencer gas handling, and Lazarus silencer’s use of Haynes 282 pushed silencer design forward, and those advancements spawned the Sandman X. The most notable is the reduced backpressure design that helps the host firearm operate without as much extra gas pressure as silencers typically induce. This puts less wear and tear on the gun and also puts less gas onto the shooter’s face.

Internally, the Sandman X uses the Triskelion design pioneered in the Mojave silencer for the first 75% or so of its length. The last quarter uses the baffle design from the Nomad silencers. Additional bypasses run along the outside of the suppressor to vent gas forward, thus reducing back pressure.

Dead Air also updated the mounting system. The Sandman X has a HUB (1.375-24) threaded back end, so it can use all kinds of assorted mounts. Another major change is using Haynes 282, an incredibly durable material used in rocket engines. The host gun will be damaged by heat long before a silencer made of this material has issues.

There are two colors available, black and flat dark earth. Or, if you purchase from Silencer Shop, you can get an exclusive grey finish. Purchasers also have the option of mounting devices. The Sandman X with a Xeno mount has an MSRP of $999, and the version with a KeyMo mount retails for $1059.
