POTD: Hunting With The LRWCI REPR Mk II Elite

Today’s photo brings some images from a recent autumn hunt. The LRWCI REPR Mk II Elite in OD Green doesn’t really blend in here, but it works. The rifle scope is the latest and greatest from Kahles, the 3.5-28x50 K328i. While it’s a great optic, it was not my first choice due to the fact that I’m on a driven hunt and the reticle on these high-powered scopes are never great on the lower range. That goes for the intensity of the illumination as well. That does NOT mean this is a bad optic, it’s pretty terrific to be honest, but it really shines for the longer ranges.

Using the Pulsar Merger XT50 Thermal binoculars to find game, dogs and dog handlers and to see what’s going on is everything you ever wished for. It’s expensive, but it’s equally fantastic. Get a thermal monocular if you can’t afford this one, and find out how thermals work.

LWRCI doesn’t offer the Proof Research barrels anymore, but the carbon fiber looks great and shaves off weight without losing performance. Caliber: 6.5 Creedmoor.

Sometimes you get to sit in a tower, sometimes you get to stand for a while. Using the BOG adjustable tripod saves some energy. The suppressor is from A-Tec, which has a compensator quick-detach interface. The magazine has a capacity of 5 maximum, to keep it legal.

While this LWRCI REPR worked as intended, I think I will try to blend in a little more in the upcoming hunts and choose a more traditional hunting rifle, something with a little less weight as well. Why did I bring it? Because a brand new suppressor got stuck on the rifle I intended to bring, and I didn’t dare zero it in the state it was.

All in all, it was a great driven hunt with blue skies and little wind.
