Luth-AR Releases A1 Slick Side and A1 C7 Modern Retro Uppers

Luth-AR has added two new options to its lineup of complete AR-15 uppers: the A1 Slick Side Modern Retro Upper and the A1 C7 Modern Retro Upper. Both are designed to replicate the classic look of Vietnam-era rifles while incorporating modern materials and performance updates.
Luth-AR @ TFB:
Each upper features a 20-inch chrome-lined barrel chambered in 5.56 NATO with a 1:7 twist, optimized for a variety of bullet weights and long-term durability. The A1 Slick Side variant omits the forward assist, staying true to early M16-style builds, while the A1 C7 includes the forward assist and brass deflector for those looking for a later-era design.
According to Luth-AR, these uppers should appeal to retro rifle builders, collectors, or anyone looking to combine classic AR aesthetics with modern barrel specs.
Key Features Include:
- Authentic A1-style forged upper receivers – available in Slick Side (no forward assist) or C7 configuration (with forward assist and brass deflector)
- 20" Pencil Profile chrome-lined barrel chambered in 5.56 NATO
- 1:7 twist rate for superior accuracy across modern ammunition loads
- A1 Slick Side Modern Retro features classic triangle handguards and Duckbill Flash Hider, to complete the retro look
- A1 C7 Modern Retro features classic A2 handguards and an A2 cage style Flash Hider.
"These uppers are built for shooters who want the old-school vibe without sacrificing the performance of a modern rifle," said Randy Luth. "We stayed true to the A1 aesthetic but enhanced the core components to meet today’s reliability and accuracy standards."
The A1 Slick-Side Modern Retro Complete Upper is available from $629.99 – $639.99.
The A1 C7 Modern Retro Complete Upper is $579.99.
The A1 Slick Side and A1 C7 Modern Retro Uppers are available now through www.Luth-AR.com
