Indian Astr Defence PHANTOM Optics-Ready Double-Stack .32 ACP Pistol
A couple of years ago, we reported about the new Indra rifle developed by an Indian company called Astr Defence. Besides that rifle, Astr Defence makes an entire family of semi-auto pistols that they sell in the local market. The Phantom is the latest addition to their handgun line. Like most of the other pistols in the company's catalog, the Phantom is also chambered in .32 ACP and the company claims that it is the first optics-ready pistol made in India or as the markings on their guns read, Born in Bharat.

The reason the Phantom and other Astr Defence pistols are chambered in .32 ACP is the local gun laws. If I understand correctly, .32 ACP pistols are considered "Non-Prohibited Bore" and can be purchased by the citizens. The magazine capacity is apparently not restricted though as the Phantom pistol's double-stack magazine holds 17 rounds.
The Phantom is a striker-fired pistol with blowback action. The gun features an accessory rail, undercut trigger guard and interchangeable grip panels. The pistol has a manual safety, trigger safety, drop safety and a loaded chamber indicator. It is available with 4” (102mm) and 3.5” (90mm) barrels. The overall weight with an empty magazine is 26.5 oz (750 grams). The length, width and height are 7”, 1.45” and 5.3” (177x37x135mm) respectively.
