Palmetto State Armory Releases The Long-Awaited Sabre Mixtape Volume 1
Introduced at SHOT Show this past January, the Sabre Mixtape Volume 1 is expected to be Palmetto State Armory’s biggest release of 2025. As the newest entry in the Sabre lineup, the ‘Volume 1’ also indicates that this .300 Blackout pistol is the first in a series of future Mixtape variants, but more on that later. For now, the Mixtape is here, and with an October 31st release, one has to wonder whether this PDW will be a trick or a treat.
Halloween jokes aside, the Sabre designation is reserved for Palmetto State Armory’s premium lineup of ARs, AKs, and Dagger handguns, so I’m going to bet the Mixtape Volume 1 is more likely a treat, introducing us to PSA’s newest Sabre Enhanced receiver sets, featuring fully ambidextrous controls, an integrated trigger guard, flared magwell, and a handsome FDE Cerakote finish.
The Sabre Mixtape Volume 1 was designed from the ground up to serve as an optimal suppressor host, featuring an 8-inch .300 Blackout barrel with a 1:5 twist rate and an adjustable gas block for easy fine-tuning with your choice of ammunition. The barrel is capped off with a 3-prong Sabre Plan B muzzle device for quick attachment of Plan B taper mount suppressors, and shrouded by a 7.25-inch Sabre lockup FDE anodized M-Lok Handguard.
The PSA Sabre Mixtape Volume 1 ships loaded with upgrades and premium components, including a Radian Raptor charging handle, Radian Talon ambidextrous selector, a 2-stage Sabre Claw trigger, B5 Systems P23 grip, and an upgraded Microbest Hard Chrome-coated Carpenter 158 bolt carrier group with OCKS (Optimized Carrier Key Screws) fasteners. I’m particularly fond of the Maxim Defense CQB brace, which not only keeps the Mixtape compact but is also easily converted into a stock should you choose to file a Form 1 and go the SBR route. With those free tax stamps coming in January, I imagine this will be the way for quite a few of us who scoff at a flexible rubber doohickey on the back of what should be a plain ‘ole rifle.
Speaking of free tax stamps, Palmetto State Armory will be releasing a dedicated 3D-printed titanium Sabre .300 Blackout silencer shortly after the Mixtape Volume 1 launch. Specifications on the can are approximate at this time; however, I am told it will weigh roughly 10 ounces and measure 7.25 inches in length with a girthy 1.73-inch diameter. While we’re looking into the future, I’ll keep that earlier promise and mention that the Mixtape Volume 2 is expected at a later date and is said to be chambered in Hornady’s all-new .338 ARC.
For those of you who skipped ahead to the price portion of this article, shame on you. Go back and read it. You already know that PSA’s model is to get guns out there into the hands of law-abiding Americans so that they may enjoy and partake in good old-fashioned Second Amendment outdoor activities while being capable of defending themselves and their loved ones, no matter how well off they are financially. Let’s go ahead and say what everyone is already thinking. The Mixtape Volume 1 reminds me a lot of a Q Honey Badger, but as a huge fan of that icon, I have to admit that it is simply out of reach for many shooters. Palmetto State Armory may have just opened the door to a very capable alternative here at an MSRP of $1,249.
The Palmetto State Armory Sabre Mixtape Volume 1 officially launches today at 4:30 pm, so if you’re looking to get your hands on one before the first rush takes them all, head over to Palmetto State Armory and get yourself an early holiday gift. You deserve it.
Palmetto State Armory has been instrumental in providing affordable firearms to the gun community for years, and the Mixtape is a culmination of the evolution and developments that have stemmed from the PSA’s obsession with delivering on customer feedback and requests, at least as much as they can keep up with. What do you guys think of PSA’s new Sabre Mixtape Volume 1? Personally, I’m a fan and look forward to getting one out on the range. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
