EAA Corp. and Girsan Firearms have released the Witness2311 XXX Series, a pair of compact double-stack 1911s designed for everyday carry. According to the company, the design reduces the footprint of the double-stack 1911 platform without sacrificing capacity or performance. Both models are chambered in 9mm with 16+1 capacity, with magazines developed in collaboration with Check-Mate, a 3.4-inch barrel, and a reduced grip module that EAA states is approximately 25 percent smaller than previous versions.

The CMX XXX ($899) features an automatic firing pin block safety in place of a traditional grip safety, creating what EAA describes as a slimmer profile. The slide is optics-ready for RMSc-footprint red dots, drilled and tapped for direct mounting. It carries a tuned trigger with a stated maximum pull weight of 4.5 pounds, front and rear slide serrations, and lightening cuts on the top and sides of the slide. The finish is two-tone Tungsten and Black Cerakote. The pistol includes two 16-round Check-Mate magazines.

The SC9 XXX ($599) retains the traditional grip safety paired with an ambidextrous thumb safety. It includes low-profile 3-dot sights, a Picatinny accessory rail, and is finished entirely in black Cerakote. This model also ships with two 16-round Check-Mate magazines.

Both pistols are available for pre-order through EAA distributors. A CMX XXX package with additional magazines will be available at Academy Sports + Outdoors stores nationwide by October 2026.

One of these is a carry pistol...I'm not sure what the other one is, but it's got too much crap for too much money on a pistol to add even more onto. The one with NO grip "safety" needs to offer the clean slide so the other one go play with all the BS on it. The "cheaper" one would still be $300 less and the buyer could use the money for ammo. For concealment, there should be one magazine with 2 rounds less to clean up the butt.
