Springfield Armory Introduces Their New 1911 Operator Pistol
The long-lived 1911 pistol line still continues to see massive popularity amongst gun owners today with tons of aftermarket support as well as new variations and updates to the popular platform. Springfield Armory has just announced their new 1911 Operator pistol adding a number of tactical improvements and modernized features that allow it to be a more defensive-oriented pistol.

I really like the addition of the Picatinny accessory rail to the dust cover and I think it not only adds a lot of utility to the 1911 platform but also makes it look really cool. I will be interested to see if existing 1911 light-bearing holsters will accommodate the new Springfield 1911 Operator or if the market will have to rise to meet the demand for these new pistols. Why can't they make a 6" 45 again?
It's weird, I have wanted one of these since Springfield introduced them. Not a TRP, the Operator specifically and lord help me I can't figure out why because I mock people for using the word OPERATOR. (Reservist thank you very much, so I am completely qualified to catch a bullet). SA should migrate over to the 2011. Slim down their 1911 offerings to the Ronin and the TRP and then switch over the OPERATOR designation to a 2011 in 9mm at this pricepoint. That would be a WINNING combination.
