POTD: Glock Clone - The Norinco NP7A
China's state-owned arms giant Norinco has never been shy about reverse-engineering a good idea, and the NP7A is exactly what it looks like: a Glock 17 clone, made in China, sold at Chinese prices (at least kind of).
The NP7A follows the Glock 17 formula closely: polymer frame, striker-fired action, 17-round magazine in 9x19mm and what appears to stay faithful to the original Glock Safe Action system.
Norinco has a long track record of producing functional, affordable clones. Their 1911s and CZ 75 derivatives have real followings in markets where the originals price people out.
However, the price of 499 CHF translates to about 640 USD, so perhaps this makes this one more interesting for a collector, or someone who wants something odd, rather than a great deal?
This particular example is listed through Swiss dealer Swisswaffen and GWM+H AG, which tells you something about how far Norinco's civilian export reach has extended.

If they hold true to Norinco normal practice, it will be TOTALLY interchangeable with a 2nd Gen G-17.

Not a bad thing, with so many "problems" with Glocks, it's AMAZING how many companies have seen fit to COPY them !
Even Ruger paired with Magpull to build a "glock".
Big question, we've had Sam Colt, J.M.Browning, Bill Ruger, Eugene Stoner, Mikhail Kalishnikov & Gaston Glock, who is going to be the next real INNOVATOR in firearms design ?
The patents & ideas of those 6 men pretty much define firearms, at least in the modern commercial market.
A clone that is $20 more than the current g gen original?
I look it more as a cheap Chinese Gucci copy and theft of proprietary data. Something the Chinese are well known for. Patents not withstanding. This cannot be seen as legal by any means. Yet here you are promoting it as a "collectible"?
Hopefully, we will keep them out of the USA. Boycott China!

I bought a Norinco version of the AK-47 back in the early 80’s. A friend and I went camping in the National Forest and, I brought the gun along. It was a little rainy and the gun got a little wet. During the night, the gas piston actually got rusted into the gas tube to the point that I couldn’t pull the charging handle. I had to bang it on a tree to break it loose so I could clear the gun. When the trip was over, I cleaned it thoroughly and got rid of it at the next gun show. I have never even considered buying ANY gun made in China again and, I never will.
What are the many problems with Glock? I’ve never, ever had a problem.
Another Glock clone to compete in a Glock type pistol market. Seems to me this is like inventing a traffic light for New Jersey... a state where there just isn't enough traffic lights.
Everyone copies Glock. Like it or not, that is the pistol world today for the most part.
Let me guess...this Norinco Glockish clone takes Glock Mags and Magpul mags.
Whats next ? Magpul releases its own Glock 19 clone ?
Ok. So, Chyna has built a Glock copy. WHat's the quality like? Has anyone taken one to the range for a full-on, 1,000 rounds, no lube, jam up and accuracy test? Will it be up to the usual Chinesium standards (who knew Chyna had standards)?

When did they start importing Chinese firearms to the US? We used to pay $100 for SKS and about the same for a Crate of ammo, BC (before Clinton).
