TFB Behind the Gun #185: Thunder Ranch UPR w/ Jordan of Meprolight

Thunder Ranch is probably one of my favorite places to go when it comes to getting solid, informative, and applicable firearms training. I’m lucky enough to live within short driving distance of the Ranch, so when Jordan of Meprolight invited me out to take the Urban Precision Rifle (UPR) course, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to put one of their new MVO 1-8x28 LPVOs through the typical Thunder Ranch torture test. However, today’s topic is not so much about optics but rather Jordan’s first experience in a carbine course. Today, we’ll walk through some of the lessons that Jordan has learned from the training from Jack Daniel and the other trainers at TR, as well as his first impressions of the Ranch itself, and some of his thoughts on his company’s own products after having tested them out in a hard-use environment.

TFB Behind the Gun #185: Thunder Ranch UPR First Impressions w/ Jordan of Meprolight

Thunder Ranch stands out as one of the top choices for practical, in-depth firearms training, thanks to its highly skilled instructors, real-world course design, and unique atmosphere. Living nearby gave me the perfect chance to join Jordan from Meprolight for their Urban Precision Rifle class, where I tested the new MVO 1-8x28 LPVO in typical Thunder Ranch conditions. While today’s story isn’t about optics, it focuses on Jordan’s first carbine course experience, sharing lessons from instructors like Jack Daniel and first impressions of Thunder Ranch’s facility and training approach. Jordan also reflected on using Meprolight products under hard-use conditions, offering fresh insights into their performance and utility.

Wow! That’s got to be the last Phone booth anywhere. I mean a few places have Kiosks, but a full Clark Kent to Superman, that’s Old Skool.
