SIG Sauer FOXTROT2R LightFight - Linking a Weapon Light to a Red Dot

I never saw this feature coming, but it’s here and it will make sense to a lot of people. SIG Sauer has built a weapon light that talks to an optic. The FOXTROT2R LightFight is a 700-lumen, 20,000-candela white light with one party trick: it is "Connected by LIGHTFIGHT”, a Bluetooth link between the light and SIG Sauer’s new XRAY5 red dot.

You won’t hear these devices talking, but when the light is switched on, the XRAY5 reticle brightness goes up immediately. The idea is simple: a bright beam on a target can wash out a reticle, so the dot is boosted at the same moment the light comes on and stays visible while the shooter illuminates the target. No manual adjustment is needed, and nothing changes once the light is off. I am hoping that anyone who has used a weapon light in the dark will understand the benefits of this feature.

Output is 700 lumens and 20,000 candela from a compact aluminum housing, with up to 1.5 hours of runtime listed.

Activation is through ambidextrous paddles that offer Momentary, Latching and Threshold modes, and three user-selectable activation modes can be set to match the shooter's habits. The paddle layout and four-position sliding rail inserts let the light be arranged around both the shooter and the firearm.

Power comes from FlexCore, SIG Sauer's dual-fuel system. The light runs on either the included rechargeable 16340 battery or a standard CR123A, so a shooter can charge at home or swap in a spare cell in the field. Two rechargeable 16340 batteries are in the box.

The light mounts to M1913 Picatinny rails and comes with two rail interface inserts, one for MIL-STD 1913 rails and one for pistols with non-MIL-STD 1913 rail designs. The housing is 6061 aluminum with a black anodized finish, assembled in the USA, rated IPX7 waterproof and backed by the Infinite Guarantee.

The light works with four XRAY5 models (Enclosed PRO, Enclosed COMPACT, SIG-LOC PRO and SIG-LOC COMPACT), and combo kits that pair the XRAY5 with the FOXTROT2R LightFight are offered in PRO and COMPACT versions.

  • Sig keeps innovating and advancing the industry.

    • With mediocre quality, mostly.

But some of these products are quite interesting and worth watching.

  • The general idea is neat. But the magnet for the red dot and magnifier combo was way better than bluetooth.

For 10+ years everybody in the tactical community wants a safer, encrypted, frequency hopping, ideally only sending and transmitting if neccesary and otherwise blackout silent alternative or version 2.0 of bluetooth. Bluetooth ain't the way. On the flipside, bring a jammer to the next big match and you might ruin the day for some Siggers...
