[SHOT 2026] New Sierra & Barnes Products and TrueData Ballistics App

Sierra Bullets and its subsidiary Barnes Bullets have jointly launched a new ballistics app called TrueData. The app features Doppler-verified ballistics, which, in conjunction with the precise environmental inputs and a variety of built-in tools, is advertised to allow hunters and shooters make confident shot decisions and achieve data-driven accuracy. Let’s take a look at the main features of the new TrueData Ballistics App as well as the new ammunition products of Sierra and Barnes.

TrueData Ballistics App

• Build & Manage Multiple Rifle Profiles. Stores multiple rifle profiles allowing you to switch between setups without re-entering data.
• Comprehensive Bullet Library. Instant access to accurate, manufacturer-verified data for Sierra and Barnes bullets.
• Barnes Ammunition Library. Detailed ballistic profiles for Barnes factory-loaded ammunition.
• Intuitive Heads-Up Display. A unified, real-time interface that brings together trajectory data, environmental updates, and shot solutions in an intuitive HUD. Every adjustment you make instantly reflects on screen, helping you to stay oriented and efficient.
• BC & Velocity Truing. BC and velocity truing tools to align your ballistic predictions with real-world impacts.
• Doppler-Verified Ballistics. Select from multiple drag models, including Doppler-measured curves for supported Barnes and Sierra bullets. These curves capture true bullet behavior across the flight path far beyond the approximations of G1 or G7. With 80+ Doppler profiles and ongoing expansion, the solver adapts to your exact projectile. G1/G7 values auto-fill for all bullets where Doppler is not yet available.
• Bluetooth Connectivity. Automatically imports precise atmospheric data from external meters like WeatherFlow and Skywatch BL for shooters who want exact inputs without manual entry.
• Virtual Rangefinder. Quickly estimates distance when scouting terrain or setting targets without a physical rangefinder.
• Target Card. Build and store preset targets with their distances and holds, helping you move efficiently between known landmarks or steel targets.

New Sierra and Barnes Products

Besides the release of the TrueData ballistic app, both companies have also introduced a number of new products for 2026, which we reported on in December 2025.

Notable news worth reminding you of is that Sierra has rebranded some of their product lines: the Varminter is now called VarmintKing and the BlitzKing line is rebranded to Tipped VarmintKing. These are just name changes; the bullet designs remain the same.

Barnes Bullets introduced the new Suppressor Series ammunition, which, as its name implies, is tailored for use in suppressed guns. Other notable new Barnes products are the Harvest Collection of bottleneck and straight-walled hunting ammunition as well as the JHP Defense handgun ammunition line.
