POTD: Stribog PCC With Spartan-Ronin F/S Dagger

The Spartan-Ronin F/S Dagger is a modern interpretation of the classic Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife, developed by Spartan Blades in collaboration with Tu Lam. The design reflects a focus on practical use, drawing from both historical patterns and contemporary materials.

It features a slim, double-edged blade with a symmetrical profile, intended to provide consistent handling and controlled penetration. The construction prioritizes strength while keeping overall weight manageable, with a steel blade finished for durability in field conditions.

In the featured image, it can be seen together with the Grand Power Stribog SP9, the winner of the first World Shoot IPSC PCC last year. The handle is shaped to support a secure grip and consistent indexing, paired with a dedicated sheath designed for stable carry and quick access. Overall, the dagger follows a straightforward approach: functional geometry, balanced proportions, and a build intended for real-world use rather than display.

Does a double-edged dagger still make sense today, or is it mostly historical?

And if I am really into blades, I can buy a Cold Steel 29" katana that will do everything the subject blade can do and more.

A slim, double-edged dagger may have some specialized use, but it's lacking in general versatility. I wouldn't add it to my loadout. It's not a need-to-have, or even a nice-to-have in any realistic sense...it's just a cool-to-have at a pretty substantial price. You can find a much cheaper substitute with a 2-minute search on Amazon. Even on the Spartanblades website, there's the Spartan-George Raider dagger for $150 that looks like it would do perfectly well as an alternative.
