NRAAM 2025: KNS Steyr AUG Gas Regulator

KNS Precision is well known for their adjustable gas plug for AK47/AK74 derivatives. This year at the 2025 NRAAM convention in Atlanta, GA they debut an expansion of this line into a unique platform. Their new unnamed gas plug for the Steyr AUIG brings the same adjustability they are known for into the Austrian bullpup world with a drop in gas regulator.

While this part is not yet available for purchase it promises a substantial increase in settings over the OEM 3 position gas plug, It has 2 gross adjustment settings and per these 2 adjustment settings there are 14 fine settings, allowing for a total of 28 different gas adjustments. According to the folks over at KNS Precision, Steyr USA has been running this widget through its paces and the feedback has been positive thus far. According to a KNS team member this regulator functions very similarly to the KNS Precision gas Czech valve with 1 less gross setting. It is worth noting that as of now this gas piston does not have a “closed” setting which frankly is impractical.
This really helps bring the AUG into a new light in the age of common-use suppressors. Each suppressor has different gas blowback properties making the simple 3 position system less than optimal which this product effortlessly solves. Whether you are using a flow through can or traditional baffle design - this will in theory give you the flexibility to tune your AUG exactly where you need to be.
I think this shows great growth for KNS Precision as well - their continued willingness to bring their gas regulators into new platforms while working directly with the rifle’s manufacturer ensuring reliable operation. We see a constant race to challenge the AR15 as consumers look for alternate platforms. I am excited to see this product take shape and even more excited to see what the folks over at KNS Precision do next.

The biggest flaw with the AUG (and nearly all bullpups) is its lack of fully ambidextrous handling and operation.
Greatest gun ever, ergonomics, looks, quick change barrels, indestructible magazines, incredibly fast on target doughnut of death. Install Corvellius deflector from Austria and your complaint about amphidextrous handling goes away.
AR-15 is an unreliable POS. Grant you, Giessele triggers will always be better than bullpup triggers, but Steyr came out with a new spring set that reduces trigger pull by about 2.5 pounds.
