New Faxon Firearms Low-Profile Adjustable Gas Block

Faxon Firearms have introduced a new adjustable gas block for AR-15 pattern firearms that has a pretty interesting design. The adjustment screw is located on the side of the gas block and when rotated, it moves the gas tube back and forth thus changing the amount of the gas tube hole and gas port overlap. The benefit of this design is that the adjustment screw does not come in contact with the gasses remaining clean and operational without risk of seizing.

Faxon Firearms @ TFB:

“Take your AR15 to the next level with the patent-pending Faxon Low-Profile Adjustable Gas Block, designed for unparalleled control and reliability. With a unique adjustment screw placement that prevents contact with gas port carbon, this gas block remains free from seizing or carbon fouling—ensuring consistent, hassle-free performance in any condition. Ideal for both suppressed and unsuppressed shooting, the Faxon Patent Pending Low-Profile Adjustable Gas Block offers precise adjustability to fine-tune your rifle’s cycling, recoil, and reliability. Built with rugged materials to withstand intense use, it’s the ultimate upgrade for AR15 enthusiasts who demand precision.”

The Faxon Low Profile Adjustable Gas Block has 14 detented settings that in extreme positions fully open and fully close the gas port. The adjustment screw can be turned with a 3/32" Allen key or a flathead screwdriver. This gas block is available for .750” and .625” barrel journal diameters.

The installation is done by inserting the gas tube into the adjustment plate of the gas block and fixing it in place via a roll pin. Then the gas block and gas tube assembly can be installed onto the barrel using the three bottom screws. To make the installation easier, you can 3D print an assembly fixture the STL file of which you can download from the company’s website.

The MSRP of Faxon Firearms Low-Profile Adjustable Gas Block is $80.

This is a unique design that prevents the adjustment screw from getting carboned locked. In fact the adj piece is completely separate from the block itself.. The inside barrel journal bore passed the tolerance in the TDP, but the gas tube bore was .001 over sized, which may be necessary for free movement of the gas tube when adjusting..The Faxon Adj gas block looks like a well thought out, economical alternative to the Rifle Speed adj gas block, which is my favorite.. How long the adj spring/detent will last will have to be seen, as these are the weak points of most adj gas blocks..Springs in a gas block will take a set and eventually break when exposed to extreme heat..Considering the adjustment piece is not directly part of the block itself, I have confidence it should not be effected like most designs..Like all adj gas blocks, they will leak more gas than a standard block and should not be used if the rifle is already on the edge of being under-gassed..Adj gas blocks will only choke the available gas, not increase it..In any case I salute Faxon firearms for thinking outside the box with this design..Jim Sullivan's biggest regret when making the AR15 was the fact he didn't put a metering device in the system and I couldn't agree more..I'm impressed enough with the Faxon adj gas block that it is going on my next build..

I have a master of arms gasblock and it forms a near airtight seal around the barrel. I just wish these were still being made or for someone else to bring this type of clamping mechanism back in to the market. The next closet thing. (UPC:816701013580)

Always love new stuff from Faxon. I know I bring this up everytime you guys post a gas block but also consider the Superlative Arms bleed-off gas block. Once it's tuned you get no gas in the face when shooting suppressed and it runs as clean suppressed as other guns run unsuppressed. I'm a self-declared fanboy so, grain of salt, but it might work for you, too.

Superlative is a good design, but it suffers from the same design flaw as others, the adj screw can get carbon shut or clogged up if it is never serviced or maintained..The adj screw is fairly easy to service, (better than most) and remove if needed, but I like new designs that lesson or make maintenance even easier.. The other flaw is the Superlative, (like most adj gas blocks on the market) will actually break in half if ran hard..Rifle Speed is the only duty rated adj gas block that I have seen..It will be interesting to see how the new Faxon works and if the gas tube will become a carbon stuck problem too..That said, it is a buyers market for the part types we can choose from for our budgets and rifle needs..
