Blaser Introduces The FBX Competition Shotgun

In what could be described as shooting decadence, Blaser has announced its FBX Competition Shotgun that most of us might like to handle, but few of us will ever have the bacon to own. Introducing the FBX as its latest masterpiece, Blaser designed the FBX sporting shotgun with a fat body receiver, combining balance and stability to provide peak competition performance.
Blaser uses the term “symphony of optimally aligned components” to describe the attention to balance and weight distribution engineered into the FBX Competition, inducing an “effortless swing and fatigue-free shooting,” according to the company. The fat body receiver is designed with a semi-round contour to achieve a more stable center of gravity on the hinge axis, and the integrated balancer system in the FBX forend provides for easily customizable weight distribution without the need to attach weights to the barrel.
Additional features of the FBX Competition Shotgun are the proven Blaser IBS Anti-Double and Ejection Ball Systems, ensuring reliability and faster shot sequences. The monocoque-designed receiver is fitted with a detachable trigger for ease of maintenance, and the felt recoil is tamed via the recoil pad’s large contact surface and engineered stock geometry. Blaser designed a steeper angle into the FBX pistol grip to increase control and allow the hand to absorb the recoil impulse more efficiently. The comb and drop are engineered for repeatability and reduced muzzle flip, intending to add comfort to the cheekbone. Lastly, the butt stock itself incorporates an integral balancer system which can be adjusted to the shooter’s preference.
“You feel the difference the minute you pick up the FBX… The balance and handling are a thing of beauty, and its overall design and performance is German engineering at its finest,” says Blaser Group CEO Jason Evans.
Aesthetics for the Blaser FBX were chosen for their ability to enhance functionality, with an elegant black Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) coating covering visible steel surfaces to provide durability and corrosion resistance. Barrel options include Briley thin wall extended chokes or a fixed choke featuring ventilated side rails for reduced weight and improved barrel cooling. Consistent wall thickness and contour even with the extended chokes combined with extended forcing cones, add to the FBX Competition’s recoil mitigation.
The Blaser FBX Competition Shotgun will ship in a sporting stock configuration and with an adjustable comb and 12-gauge low-rib competition barrel. The pleasure of this shotgun will be available for an MSRP of… Drum roll, please… $13,995.
It sure is gorgeous, and I bet it shoots as beautifully as it looks. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, and if one of these is on your personal shopping or wish list, please sound off and tell me why.
