    My only gripe is that all the 18650 heads (even Malkoff) don't run at full tilt when used with LiFePO4 cells, which though lower in starting voltage and initial capacity, retains that capacity over the lifetime better, has a flatter discharge curve, and has less tendency to catastrophically turn into an incendiary device when abused or physically damaged.

    Honestly this goes for most lithium battery devices out there. Phones, cars, whatever. No cobalt needed, safer, Hella cheaper. You want to make EV affordable and more widespread? LiFePO4 them till sodium ion batteries come into maturity.

    On a technical note, I know Malkoff heads need 3.4v minimum to run at full tilt. Max volt on lifepo4 cells are 3.2v, hence, can't they integrate one of those solid state power adapter we seen on modern phone chargers? Maybe sold as an adaptor to fit between the head and the main light body? We don't need coils of copper to step up voltages no more. It's all solid state, high efficiency. Seeing that 18650 has much longer runtime compared to 2x CR123A, even with less initial capacity and some transformer loss, it's still a win for runtime.

    You know what? for you engineers out there, that's something you could try to make and market. An adaptor for Scout600DF pattern lights to let 18650 LiFePO4 power the thing at full tilt

      @T243 That runtime is for the cr123. It's a 1.5 hr with 18650.
