This Year is The End of Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot

Machine gun enthusiasts received a bit of bad news recently with a News Alert from Kenny Sumner – the owner of the Knob Creek Gun Range. This year’s October 2021 Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot will be the last one. The news was discovered via a picture of a printed and signed letter breaking the sad news – the end of the shoot. For years people have been coming to the Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot to get the rare opportunity to shoot full-auto and other NFA firearms that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to get their hands on.

This Year is The End of Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot
Kenny Sumner’s letter to the Knob Creek Patrons reads as follows:
NEWS ALERT
Half a century – 50 years – Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot – every year – twice a year – well except for a flood and a pandemic! We’ve made many friends – some have become family. It has become a twice a year Reunion for many vendors and shooters. Your patronage has been much appreciated over the years. However, old age has crept up on us all. The Time Has Come – October 2021 will be the last Machine Gun Shoot. Hope to see you then!
Our shop and range will continue to operate on our regular schedule. Come see us anytime.
Kenny Sumner
50 years is indeed a long time to host one of the nation’s largest machine gun shoots. Every year thousands of people would flock to Knob Creek to participate in the machine gun shoot and get a look at or even to get to shoot some of the world’s rarest firearms. From MP5’s, AK-47s, Browning M2s to cannons and M134 Miniguns, just about every type of gun you can imagine ended up at Knob Creek and was available to old and young alike.
While I’ve never had the chance to go to a Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot, I think this year might have to be the year I pony up and make the drive down to Bullitt County, Kentucky and get to experience the event for myself – even if its the last one we’ll ever see. I’d like to hear if any of you have been to the Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot and what your experiences were. Are you going to go out this year for the last machine gun shoot at Knob Creek? What are your thoughts on the end of the yearly shoot?

I've been to the shoot many times over the years, always fun, and always neat stuff. I even got to work security one year....standing on the firing line making sure people don't shoot each other...or me, really cool, Thanks for the memories Kenny!
Kenny and his staff are great people, I have been going almost every year since 2003, I am going to miss them all. I wont miss the 13 hour drive from NJ, but I will miss the fun and excitement of the whole shabang and all the vendors with all the odd ball stuff.. there is nothing like it.
