The Texas Typewriter is the latest and greatest from the boys over at Black Collar Arms. The new Texas Typewriter is a modular, semi-automatic, 22LR platform meant to give you the ability to endlessly customize the platform by giving you complete compatibility with aftermarket and OEM 10/22 parts and accessories. What makes the Texas Typewriter really special is its monolithic receiver, which is supposed to give it extreme rigidity, as well as lighten the whole load (receiver, barrel, forend, and stock) down to a little less than 4 lbs total. On top of that, the gun can be ordered as a kit, pistol, or SBR, and even features ambidextrous bolt knobs for all of you southpaw rimfire junkies out there.

The Texas Typewriter from Black Collar Arms

Austin, TX — [Immediate Release] — Black Collar Arms announced the launch of the Texas Typewriter, a new semi-automatic .22LR rifle platform engineered for maximum modularity, compatibility, and future-proof customization. Available as a complete gun or build kit, in rifle, SBR, or pistol configuration.
What sets the Typewriter apart is its unique monolithic architecture. The traditional Ruger® 10/22 receiver and rifle stock have been replaced with a single ultra-rigid receiver. The forend and stock mount directly to the receiver, resulting in significant weight savings, improved rigidity, and a low-profile form factor. This is the first truly modern rimfire.
The Texas Typewriter is compatible with Ruger® 10/22 bolts, triggers, magazines, and barrels, allowing customers to tap into one of the largest and most mature aftermarket ecosystems in the firearms industry. This compatibility allows for endless customization at a very competitive price point.
The Texas Typewriter is available with a wide variety of rear stock modules, which allow for the mounting of nearly any stock on the market, including Picatinny rail, buffer tube, AK47, and 870 shotgun.

The Texas Typewriter is a high-end rimfire platform and hovers around $700 in price for virtually all versions of the rifle, as well as the build kits. Available now from Black Collar Arms, the Texas Typewriter is just begging for an FRT or Binary trigger to truly live up to its catchy name. A complete list of specifications, features, and images is available on the Black Collar Arms website.

I wouldn't send these guys any money. They have a habit of turning an 8-week lead time into 8 months.

No doubt we have earned that comment. It's embarrassing and extremely frustrating, and it drives us up a wall. All of us are sorry for long and, worse, inaccurate lead times.

We've been taking over control of more and more of our own supply chain by bringing manufacturing in-house, and it is paying off. We've simplified our offerings to move away from heavy customization and in-depth configurations in order to streamline the process and shrink the supply chain that relies on external vendors. We're moving away from the predominately custom-made-to-order model that we've operated under and toward an it's-on-the-shelf model, and we're making very good progress in this endeavor. In the next few months, as our in-house capabilities continue to increase and come online and streamline, you're going to see not only way more Black Collar product that's in-stock and ships without delay, but our product available from dealers and other retailers as well. On that note...

With Texas Typewriter, much of our sales will be to dealers and you'll be able to see and handle and purchase one in-person, on the spot.

I'm really sorry we've sucked with lead times far too often, and all I can say is that it absolutely kills us (in multiple ways) and we're working extremely hard to get this huge problem resolved.
