As Thompson/Center makes its comeback, one thing that longtime fans of the brand wanted to know was: What about the pistols? And after launching (or is that re-launching?) multiple lines of rifles, Thompson/Center has indeed brought back its hunting-oriented handguns as well, with the Encore ProHunter pistol series rebooted.

Back in September, FN invited a handful of media folks out to South Carolina for an early look at what they've been working on. Among the lineup was something I didn't expect: a pistol aimed squarely at the operator, average Joe, and newbie alike. The FN 309 MRD is FN's attempt to crack into the consumer 9mm market with a gun that's supposed to be easy to shoot, easy to use, and easy to own. After putting around 300 rounds through it at Sawmill Training Complex in Laurens, I walked away thinking they might actually pull it off.

The Bundeswehr launched its search for a new pistol in November 2024. The tender’s deadline was listed as 4 December, but its unknown what the timeline for the procurement process is although the contract duration is listed as 84 months (or 7 years).

We already told you about  XS Sights’ plans for new lever-action rifle accessories, but that’s not all they had on display at SHOT this week. They also had examples of new sights for handguns, including both semi-auto pistols and revolvers.

It’s been a while since we heard anything from KRISS USA, but their new KYMERA is just around the corner. According to KRISS, the KYMERA is a modular hammer-fired pistol designed for maximum versatility and user customization. You may have noticed that Springfield Armory has sprinkled some extra nomenclature to all of their Echelon handguns (referred to as 4.5F models meaning full-size and a 4.5” barrel). Savage has released its striker-fired Stance XR Micro 9mm, a new line of handguns built to deliver modern performance in an improved compact everyday carry pistol. Refining the micro pistol into a thin and easily concealable firearm, Savage promises the Stance XR Micro is as functional in use as it is convenient to tuck away.

The H&K P7, born in West Germany in 1979, is a highly recognizable design with unique features that earned it a large fanbase. With the model discontinued in 2008, the only option to get it has been the used market, with increasing prices and minimal access to spare parts. P7Pro is changing this by setting up production of American-made P7 pistols.
