POTD: The Colt MK47 - 40mm Firepower
Photo Of The Day and we take a look at the Colt MK47 40mm Advanced Grenade Launcher. At 39.6 pounds, the weapon operates as either a standard automatic grenade launcher or with programmable airburst capability, accommodating both in-bore and radio frequency programming for precision ordnance delivery.
The system fires all NATO-standard high-velocity 40mm ammunition, including ballistically matched smart grenades and point-impact rounds. The integrated fire control design eliminates operator timing adjustments while supporting MIL-STD-1913 rail attachment for illuminators, laser pointers, and targeting accessories.
An optional Light Weight Video Sight II (LVSII) can provide day color and night thermal imaging, critical for super-elevation ballistics and target maintenance through sustained engagements. The result is a modular platform calibrated for softly armored target engagement.

This weapon was developed by Saco Defense in Saco, ME. The TDP and all rights were sold to Colt CZ last year. I would love to see them gain traction with the MK47.
