POTD: Defence Australia - F89 Minimi Light Support Weapon
Photo Of The Day and we take a look at the F89 Minimi, which is an Australian-produced version of the FN Minimi light machine gun manufactured by Lithgow Arms. In Australia, it’s called a Light Support Weapon (LSW).
Here’s the caption from Defence Australia:
“Finessing skills - Soldiers of the 103rd Battery Joint Fires Team, 8th/12th Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery, recently deployed to the Kangaroo Flats Training Area, Northern Territory as part of Exercise Sphinx Crawl.
The team conducted patrols by day and by night, in addition to break contact drills and observation post occupation in order to finesse their skills ahead of the 1st Brigade’s Predator War-fighter series
The soldiers were also joined by members from Delta Company, 5th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment at Robertson Barracks, NT, to spend time perfecting their marksmanship skills.

Below: The F88 Austeyr.
You may think it’s some kind of joke from down under, but the 7.62mm model is known as the Maximi.

Nice camo painted on the gun.
Including the barrel.
Must be Cerakote air cure as barrels get really hot
Bottom pic is an EF88 not an F88
