Q Mini Fix in 6 ARC: Compact Bolt Gun, Serious Reach
Q has a well-earned reputation for building rifles that feel like they emerged from an engineering thought experiment, specifically: what's the minimum amount of rifle you need to accomplish the maximum amount of work? The Mini Fix in 6mm ARC is the latest answer to that question.
The new configuration pairs Q's Mini Fix platform with a 12-inch barrel and the 6mm ARC cartridge, a combination Q says delivers ballistic performance that punches well past what the package size implies. The press release puts it bluntly: this is a rifle for shooters who want precision and capability "in a platform that doesn't suck to carry around all day."
At the center of the design is Q's one-piece aluminum receiver, a folding adjustable stock, and a short-throw bolt action that the company says eliminates excess weight and bulk without compromising function. At 5.25 pounds, it's a setup that genuinely earns the word "compact" rather than just claiming it on a spec sheet. The 12-inch barrel keeps overall length to 31 inches, and the 1:7 twist with a ½-28 threaded muzzle makes it suppressor-ready out of the box. To be honest, it pretty much ticks all the boxes I like - unfortunately, where I live, the barrel must be 18” for hunting.
6mm ARC was developed with efficiency in mind, particularly in shorter barrels, and Q is leaning into that strength here. I only fired a few mags of 6mm ARC in my life, but it’s easy to appreciate. The cartridge offers competitive long-range ballistics from a gas gun and proves equally capable from a bolt platform, where barrel length constraints that might hurt other cartridges don't hit as hard. Whether this is heading into a hunting pack, riding in a truck, or serving as a training tool with a can on the end, the Mini Fix 6 ARC is positioned to cover a wide range of roles without asking for a dedicated gun for each one.
Q describes the Mini Fix as "everything you need; nothing you don't," which is the kind of line that's easy to roll your eyes at until you actually handle one of their rifles and realize they're not entirely wrong. The 16-inch non-NFA version of the same platform is available for those who want to skip the tax stamp, but the announcement is clearly aimed at the crowd that accepts the Form 4 wait as the price of admission for a genuinely compact package.
This Q is available now through Q dealers nationwide. MSRP is $3,600.
There isn’t an abundance of images of the new 12” version, but you can check out the 16” here: https://www.liveqordie.com/mini-fix-16-in-6mm-arc-gray
Is the 12-inch Mini Fix the sweet spot for a suppressed precision hunting rifle, or does the non-NFA 16-inch barrel make more practical sense for most buyers?

I want it. But I don't want to pay for it
