Meet the DOT EHS-1 L: Same Reticle, New Mount, Less Money

The core optics remain unchanged from the standard EHS-1. You still get the 1 MOA center dot paired with a 65 MOA outer ring on a 1.2 x 0.8-inch window, coated with anti-reflective lenses on all surfaces, and running off a single CR123A for up to 1,000 hours of continuous runtime at medium brightness. The 2.26-inch centerline height carries over as well, so existing cheekweld setups built around the original should transfer directly.

Where things diverge is in the hardware. The cross-bolt design brings the weight down to 234 grams without battery, compared to 260 grams on the QD model, and the body dimensions shift accordingly: the L measures 3.17 inches tall by 1.86 inches wide by 2.15 inches deep, versus the original's 2.13 x 2.09 x 3.03-inch footprint. DOT describes the material as aircraft-grade aluminum with a hard-coat anodized finish.

The practical tradeoff is straightforward: the cross-bolt mount gives up quick removal in exchange for what DOT describes as a more secure rail connection with no lever bulk on the side of the optic. IP68 water and dust resistance, the -40°F to 131°F operating range, and the Dynamic Wake motion activation and auto shut-off features all carry over from the original.

Pricing comes in at $499.99, a hundred dollars below the standard EHS-1's $599.99, which makes sense given the simpler mounting hardware. Both Black and FDE finishes will be offered.
