Bear Creek Arsenal Debuts Bear Bolt Pro Bolt-Action AR Line

Bear Creek Arsenal added a bolt-action twist to its sprawling AR catalog on October 27 with the launch of the Bear Bolt Pro Series, a run of bolt-action AR uppers and complete rifles.

Caliber Lineup

The Bear Bolt Pro Series launches in 308 Winchester, with more calibers in both AR10 and AR15 configurations described by Bear Creek Arsenal as "arriving soon." Every Bear Bolt Pro complete upper assembly fits mil-spec lowers, so the uppers drop onto existing builds.

How It Works

The headline feature is the action itself. According to Bear Creek Arsenal, the Bear Bolt Pro uses a one-piece bolt rather than a multi-piece design, which the company says cycles more smoothly and faster. That one-piece bolt pulls out of the upper receiver with no tools required.

The company also reworked the bolt lift. Instead of the 90-degree throw common to bolt-action rifles, the Bear Bolt Pro uses a 70-degree lift that Bear Creek Arsenal describes as "faster and smoother."

On the safety side, the series includes an out-of-battery safety that shields the firing pin any time the bolt isn't fully in battery. Per the company, "the rifle cannot fire unless the bolt is fully closed and locked."

What's Not Listed Yet

Barrel length, twist rate, weight, and price were not stated in the release, so those specs remain unconfirmed for now.

That upper profile looks a lot like the UPR10.

I’ve got their standard bolt action upper. I like it but its not perfect and it took a lot of polishing / tinkering to make run right. This design looks a lot more like the unitah upper. Probably a better design.
