The true place where America is ahead with regards to suppressors is standardization of thread pitches... That and command of the English language apparently

@iksnilol Delta P's suppressors are not comparable to anything that a European company produces, but these are the only suppressors I can think of that fit that bill.

@iksnilol We can agree on that front but not on design and technology. Europe has copied us for years starting from the 90s with the KAC NT4 which B&T tried to copy its baffles with not as much success. The HK MK23 suppressor from KAC was also a feat of engineering as it was the first pistol suppressor with and inertial decoupler, Nielson Device or booster that helped a suppressed pistol to cycle properly, HK then brought the suppressor to Europe and had B&T copy it for their MK23 suppressor. Circa 2000s when AAC was dominating the rifle and pistol market, the HK416 and MK18 came into existence and the NT4's was reaching it's end of service. The Europeans copied some of AAC's pistol designs and incorporated the vented blast chamber design feature in some early Surefire and AAC designs to reduce backpressure. The 2010s came around and Surefire was high on their SOCOM contract and other foreign contracts, B&T was super high from their EU, Asian, Middle Eastern and south American contracts with copied designs and a companied named OSS made a ridiculous octagonal over the barrel suppressor and later refined it and won their first contract for the M110A1 rifle which single handedly shocked manufactures because although it was loud at the muzzle compared to other suppressors, it was suppressing sound to a reasonable level and their was no blow back. Companies then went on to take the low back pressure requirements more seriously in the US and made multiple designs that came no where near as close to the performance as the OSS because although they had low back pressure, the sound performance was extremely lacking and that's why very few companies had low back pressure suppressors for years and that's why OSS took over that market. The late 2010s came around and the Europeans only low back pressure suppressors where one with a ported blast chamber and flow paths around the baffles which was heavy and loud. 2020 was the year where European companies started copying OSS core design and changing it to their liking. European manufacturers cannot compete with the US in technology and design. B&T, Ase Utra, Silent Steel, A-Tec and a few other have been behind the US in technology and always will be, their only saving grace is that they have more sophisticated mounting systems.

@Lee You do realize that Nielsen was Danish, right?

We're so behind yet we make suppressors that perform satisfactorily without weighing half a kilo or more. Which is something that has eluded American manufacturing for decades.

@IOJ And actually reduces sound. Besides the AR 30-4 isn't that heavy. it's only 240 grams

@iksnilol I thought you were talking about the A-Flow 1+2, since it is specially designed to be low blowback. The AR 30-4's added length is 1 and a half time the one of the Brevis II in 5,56 and it isn't a low blowback design.

@Lee I won't even read the rest of the text, just your first three sentences were enough. Dude, you are soooo wrong! Design that are you talking about is made by Karl Brugger in 1970's! And you can actually find his patent online. He was inspired by British ww2 suppressor for the silenced Sten (one of the several models).
OK, I it would be really rude not to read the rest of your post, so I did it. Generally I agree with a lot of the things that you wrote.
Now, guys should understand one thing. Europeans (not just guys living in EU, btw) are not like Americans. We don't go to the shooting range and dump like 2.5 million rounds per session using full/semi auto rifles. That's the reason why we generally don't give a flying phuck about flow through suppressors. Now, I'm not saying that low back pressure suppressors are bad, but they are just not needed so badly like in States.

@iksnilol That first device is made by Mickey Finn, and Nielsen is the last name of the secretary (female) in the company, if I recall correctly.

@Ninoslav Trifunovic Very valid points. Which design was I wrong on, the NT4 or the MK23 suppressor?

@iksnilol We do actually have lightweight suppressors. You just don’t hear about them as much, because the hype signal-to-noise ratio gets worse with distance, and hypebeast companies love to show off with machineguns.

My lightest centerfire rifle can weighs 287g and is 12cm long by 4,3cm diameter. Mounting adapter included; everything is stainless steel. I paid like $300 for it, within the past 5 years. Yes, it’s full auto rated, and has seen a small amount of use that way, but really I just use it with reasonable rates of fire on longer 5.56 guns.

@iksnilol I’ve read that the Brevis works surprisingly well, but I have no way to verify that, since Delta P seems absolutely terrified of the general public having the opportunity to judge for themselves.

@Ninoslav Trifunovic Maybe. I doodled designs similar to the ones that showed up later from OSS, ARL, CGS, TDS, and Sico but that’s obviously different from actually engineering and machining the designs, vs scribbling for fun. I don’t doubt that some degree of copying or inspiration may have occurred, but there’s only so many ways to do this.

@Lee I was talking about baffle design, first seen in KAC MK23 suppressor, I believe. Karl designed 'em, KAC was first to produce 'em and A-TEC made 'em modular.

@Andrew Not some degree, but like whole idea. And OSS can appeared in a short time after that brainstorming debate. I also remember that some of the guys made comment like "guys from OSS are also following the Forum"... Now, I don't have problem with that. Actually, I'm, very glad that someone from industry did it.

@iksnilol I certainly see that as a possibility, and if it doesn’t, then my expectations would be exceeded.

@Ninoslav Trifunovic The MK23 has a similar crimped cone baffle to the NT4 which I know that B&T ripped off by trying to machine it. Both the NT4 and MK23 suppressor came out around the same time in about 1996. The baffle technology came from Qual A Tech so B&T can't claim this technology because they copied it.
