Two of the best pistol caliber carbines in the game: The LEGENDARY Heckler & Koch MP5 faces off today against the B&T APC-9. The H&K MP5 has been the gold standard for PCCs or SMGs for nearly 60 years, while the B&T APC-9 is newer, having been invented by the Swiss group Brugger & Thomet in 2011. While the B&T doesn’t have the long legacy enjoyed by the MP5, the APC-9 is the first SMG that has been adopted by the U.S. Army since World War II. Which one is the top dog in 2023?

Not gonna lie: I like alot of B&T Products. Handled their USW , which is nice and actually features an internal hammer DA/SA design as was unknown to me before. Handled their TP380 prototype - actually way smaller than you can imagine.
Handled all their regular civilian rifles, TP9 and stuff.
I got to say: Except the TP380, I dislike all the blowback designs. Sorry, its just "bad". It may has its benefits, but to me its already a nogo as soon as I have to pull this heavy bolt against this stiff spring, worse than pumping a .12 or charging a G3. I like a mechanical lock, with way longer dwell times - which is why I dont understand that the "brilliance" of B&T settled for this design choice after spending thousands of hours in manpower into one single development.
Beyond me...
Which is why neither of them is great and it needs "all of the APC" but some different action with some rotating bolt. No roller delayed locking systems please.
In my day, if you were using it primarily as a carbine, nothing could touch the MP5. If you needed strictly a sub gun, I actually preferred a couple others. But, in 2023, a heavy, accurate 9mm platform is just a fun gun.
