Ruger 10/22 Takedown Chassis by Crazy Ivan LLC
Karl VanKeuren, the founder of Crazy Ivan LLC, named his company after a dangerous maneuver from a Tom Clancy novel which is what he thought starting a company in his 50s is. He designs and manufactures a variety of firearm parts and accessories. One of the latest products designed by Karl is a Ruger 10/22 Takedown chassis.
The Crazy Ivan Ruger 10/22 Takedown chassis is machined out of billet 6061-T6 aluminum and comes with either a black anodized or Cerakote finish of multiple color options. This chassis is available in two versions: Slick-Side and Lite. The Slick-Side chassis weighs in at 8.3 oz and the Lite is a skeletonized one tipping the scales at 7.9 oz.
The Crazy Ivan Ruger 10/22 Takedown chassis are compatible with AR-15 buffer tubes and pistol grips and most Ruger 10/22 receivers with the exception of the ones with fixed rear tangs. These chassis allow free-floating the barrels and will fit pretty much any 10/22 barrel profile including the .920″ bull barrels. Being designed for the takedown version of the 10/22, these chassis lack a forearm. They are compatible with original Ruger or other manufacturers’ 10/22 takedown forearms. Karl also makes extruded aluminum takedown 10/22 M-LOK handguards (sold separately) available in two length options which you can see installed on a rifle in the top picture of this article (the short, 7″ version) and in the below embedded one (the long, 10″ handguard). The Crazy Ivan chassis are drop-in products not requiring any changes to the 10/22 receiver or other parts.
Depending on the model and finish, the prices of Crazy Ivan Ruger 10/22 Takedown chassis vary from $159 to $189. The handguards cost $74 – $104. Those of you who plan to use Volquartsen triggers must mention it when ordering these chassis as they require special grip inserts.
