[TFB GUNFEST] The Gemtech + Smith & Wesson Integra-15

@ I can slap a cheap suppressor on my Tippmann Arms pistol already.
I don't want to have to do that with both my Tippmann carbine and 15-22.
AND YOU CAN'T HAVE TOO MANY CANS!

@Brett baker If you’ve already got several 22 cans, it’s not unreasonable, and is a cool idea. The G-core (what gemtech calls their monocore) isn’t very impressive though.

The Mist 10/22 (I’ve got the takedown version) has mediocre accuracy and suppression, and it is painful to clean. They made several versions (without changing the model/name). The first ones had ported barrels to keep bulk subsonic, but they later switched to unported. They never said why, but most think it was because it was humming up the threads too fast (or cost savings or accuracy or?)

There are a few reasons cleaning is problematic:
1) the threads and that the sleeve screw to aren’t protected by a taper or o-ring, so the lead etc gunks them up. That will be compounded significantly by the fact that you can’t even see/reach them on this one bc the rail is covering them (unlike the Mist).
2) The external sleeve is practically impossible to clean well because the end is fixed which means you can’t push/pull anything through (like a 12ga brush). If the muzzle end/cap unthreaded also, you could pull a bore brush (hint gemtech).
3) the barrel/welded stack won’t fit in an ultrasonic cleaner or tumbler or even most blasting cabinets (not that I own one).

Oh yeah just shoot some browning or stingers and tap it off... why hasn’t anyone thought of that for the sparrow or any of the other steel cans.

That being said, I’m not one of those super paranoid detail cleaners, so it’s been chugging along just fine. A few tweaks would have made maintenance a lot easier though. The binary trigger also made the Mist a lot more interesting.
