Fresno Police Swap 40 S&W for New 9mm Duty Weapons
According to the Fresno Bee, the Fresno Police Department is allegedly switching from its current standard Beretta PX4’s chambered in .40 S&W for new Glock 45s chambered in 9mm. This would change the roughly 800 officer police force’s entire duty weapon inventory. This would be in line with several other Law Enforcement departments that have made the switch from .40 S&W to 9mm.

The Glock 45 was released in the latter part of 2018 and has shown strong competition with its close cousin, the Glock 19. Glock 45 carries a few upgrades seen in the Glock 19X that was released earlier but without the lanyard loop.
Police Chief Andy Hall has been on the hunt for new duty weapons for his department. Although the current 40 S&W Beretta PX4’s are somewhat new, being issued in 2009 it seems that his department is going to follow the trend that many other police departments across the nation have been following by switching to 9mm.
The change to the new Glock 45 handguns has been brought to the table because of the apparent cost of refurbishing the current inventory of duty weapons. According to the chief, it would cost nearly $100,000 to send the PX4s back to Beretta to have them all refurbished.
The Police Chief has a $200,000 budget to work with and believes the swap to the new 9mm pistols would cost about $489,600. He hopes that they can offset some of the cost by selling the old inventory of duty weapons which if traded in their current condition could be sold to a supplier for $216,000 which would bring the nearly half-million swap down to $273,600.
The Glock 45 features polymer front and rear sights, an ambidextrous slide stop lever, 17-round magazine capacity, and a reversible magazine catch. These features should help accommodate left and right-handed officers especially considering that the Glock 45 also makes use of the replaceable backstraps that were born out of the MOS series of Glock pistols.

The Glock 45 is not on the CA Approved Roster of Safe Handguns so many police departments are using weapons that are not safe for consumers. Hope they don't shoot someone and get sued for using a weapon that the CA DOJ itself has declared unsafe.
how does it feel??? 9mm master race taking over. now lets play some PC games
