In episode two of a three part series for TFBTV, James shows TFB readers and viewers his H&K MP5 and SIG MPX and compares each to the other. Both of these pistol caliber carbines are configured in short-barrel-rifle format. Both of them are 9mm. Both of them have roots with respected manufacturers. But each of them has a few tricks up its sleeve that the other doesn’t. However, today, James tells us five ways that the H&K MP5 is superior to the SIG MPX.

Quoting TFB’s own Hrachya H.:

“The Heckler & Koch MP5 is probably the most popular post-WW2 submachine gun design of the world. It is compact, reliable and lightweight. It uses H&K’s roller locked design, which proved to be a successful concept judging from the number of countries utilizing it. No surprise it is popular in the civilian market, too. This gun has become so popular, that not only many countries adopted it, but also manufacture MP5s domestically.”

James, you said that you'd prefer the MP5 in a match. But, aren't MP5 magazine changes slower than MPX magazine changes? Or, have you found a way to make MP5 mag changes quicker? Note, several tenths in a PCC classifier can really hobble you.

We had MP5N and SD available for VBSS, fantastic guns. Would like to try a SIG MPX auto and compare. As nice as the MP5 is I prefer MK18. Have also tried HK UMP and liked them also. Of all MP5 is easier to control under full auto due to weight and recoil impulse. Have also tried a prototype Bushmaster XM9mm in a MK18 configuration, initially it had issues with certain hp ammunition but with fmj it was reliable. Probably choose MK18 in 9mm in the end for CQB, very manageable recoil and lightweight overall.
