Welcome back to another week of Wheelgun Wednesday on TFB as we revisit a common culprit in Colt. They have announced new matte blued offerings of their coveted Python revolver series that will be available for a short time as a limited production run.

Wheelgun Wednesday @ TFB:

Matte Blued Pythons

These new matte blued Pythons are going to sport forged carbon steel frames with what is being touted as a rugged matte finish for unmatched durability and everyday utility. This production run is going to be limited to 4,000 units across four SKUs (4 barrel lengths), but that doesn’t mean it is a precise production distribution of 1,000 units each. It may be a unique mixed figure across all 4 available new SKUs. Another highlight is their one-piece barrel construction with a recessed target crown.

Features for All of the New Matte Blued Pythons

  • Forged carbon steel frame with a rugged matte finish for unmatched durability and everyday utility.
  • One-piece carbon steel barrel with a ventilated rib, 30% more steel beneath the rear sight, and a recessed crown delivers superior strength, precision, and a more robust shooting experience.
  • Leaf spring action provides a non‑stacking smooth-as-glass trigger pull.
  • Fluted 6 round cylinder chambered for 357 Magnum and compatible with 38 Special, offers flexibility and reliable performance.

Final Thoughts

It is cool to see that Colt is getting a bit creative and adventurous in their revolver offerings, but after seeing some of these, I kind of wish they weren’t limited production runs. Instead, just new mainstays within their portfolio of wheelguns. The last offering looks like a typical, iconic revolver that we would come to expect from Colt.

As always, let us know all of your thoughts about all of the new matte blued Python offerings being unveiled from Colt in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.

As it have a big cylinder (wider than L-Frame) , I want 5-round .44 Magnum or 7-round .357 version Python.

and also round butt in short barrel model.

What in the world can we do to sell more Pythons, especially when WE don't even make them ourselves any more? I know, let's bead blast them in a fraction of the time it takes us to buff and blue, and still sell them? I know, let's make the rib solid! Give me a brake!
