Vaelon - Watchtower Defense's Upcoming Flagship 9mm Pistol

Watchtower Defense has a new pistol in development, and TFB has the latest information and images. This is a 9mm double-stack 1911 pistol built at the company's facility in Tomball, Texas. The Vaelon is intended to be the flagship model in its handgun lineup.

The pistol shown by the company is a prototype. Watchtower Defense states the Vaelon is in development and lists a 2027 release window, with cosmetic elements and component choices subject to change before then.

The Vaelon's barrel is a polished 4.6-inch bull barrel made from 416R stainless steel, with 5R rifling and a 1:16 twist rate. The barrel is threaded 11/16-40 and fitted with Watchtower Defense's thread-on compensator, paired with trident ports machined into the barrel and slide.

The slide is 416R stainless steel and the frame is 17-4 stainless steel. Watchtower Defense offers the Vaelon in two finishes, DLC Black and PVD Graphite/Copper. The barrel and guide rod are polished on both finishes. Black is always nice, but the copper version is irresistible. Do you agree?

The pistol uses a billet aluminum grip module over the double-stack 1911 frame, along with a steel magwell. The trigger is a flat-faced aluminum shoe. Watchtower Defense states each trigger is hand-certified by its gunsmiths to break at 2.5 pounds, plus or minus 4 ounces, with a reset distance under 0.100 inches.

For sighting equipment, the Vaelon includes a tritium front sight, an RMR optic plate, and an optional removable rear blade. Optics are sold separately, and the company notes third-party mounting screws may be required depending on the optic selected.

The Vaelon ships with two stainless steel standard 1911 double-stack magazines, one 126mm and one 140mm, along with a range bag, gun lock, and gunsmith certification card. There’s a transferable limited lifetime warranty on the pistol.
