The New Monolith Bufferless DI Rifle From Global Ordnance
Luke C ( @BallisticAviation ) is back at TriggrCon 2024 hosted by Rainer Firearms to talk with Global Ordnance about their brand-new Monolith rifle. Featuring a unique one-piece barrel machined from a single piece of 41v50 ordnance grade steel using a proprietary process, the monolith attempts to take the guesswork out of assembling an upper by providing superior accuracy, reliability, and suppressor concentricity for the user. This "monolith barrel" combines the bore, barrel extension, gas block, and Dead Air KeyMo muzzle brake into a single, seamless part that, when paired with a new heavy-duty bolt design, represents some innovation in a 70-year-old design.

Problem is that if one part goes bad, you would have to replace four parts to fix the one issue. Why doesn't someone just make a connection system so barrels and receivers are plug and play? It's been done in every facet of life from electrical connections to tooling, yet someone can't fix the original design where barrel to handguard and gas block to barrel assemblies are simple. Doing a proper barrel, handguard, gas block alignment is a task that could easily be simplified if a few alignment slots could be added. Snap-connection or ratcheting barrel nut and a few alignment slots would change how people can access their own builds.
