Weatherby Inc. has a long, long history of building high-end hunting rifles, but all those rifles have something in common. They’re chambered for the modern cartridges of their era because Weatherby was built to innovate from its founding. That’s changing now, kind of; Weatherby has announced its first muzzleloader, the Model 307 MZY. But is it really a step backwards, or a step sideways, then forward?

Weatherby's new 250th Anniversary Mark V isn't just another limited-edition rifle timed to capitalize on patriotic sentiment. It's a deliberate declaration, built on a frame that's been holding American hunters' ambitions since 1957, honoring 250 years of the freedom that let Roy Weatherby walk into a California storefront with nothing but an idea. That same freedom built this company into a Wyoming dynasty. That same freedom built a nation. This rifle is where those stories intersect.

The Weatherby Mark V Carbon Compact is a purpose-built, lightweight rifle designed for smaller-statured shooters or anyone who prefers a shorter length of pull. Built around Weatherby’s lighter 6-Lug Standard Action, it pairs a compact stock with a BSF carbon fiber barrel to deliver a rifle that is easier to handle without sacrificing premium performance.

The spring turkey hunting season is just around the corner and Weatherby has a new offering for those who prepare to chase gobblers. The Weatherby SORIX Turkey is a new addition to their line of inertia-operated semi-auto shotguns tailored for thunder chicken hunters with features like magnum chambers, Mossy Oak Original Bottomland camo, an extended turkey choke included with the gun and a flip-up rear sight for more accurate payload delivery.

All Weatherby RPM cartridges have a rebated rim of .473" diameter with a .500” case body. These are basically the .284 Winchester case head and base dimensions. This case design allows using standard 30-06 Springfield/308 Winchester bolts but have a larger case capacity at a given case length. With an overall length of 3.34", the 25 Weatherby RPM is a standard/long action length cartridge that, according to Weatherby, provides magnum performance. The new 25 Weatherby RPM is designed with a focus on shooting heavier, high-BC bullets: the recommended twist rate is 1:7.5" and the case length of 2.4” results in ample room over the case (.94”) for those long ogive bullets. New for 2026 from Weatherby is the Mark V Backcountry Capra, an unbelievably lightweight iteration of the Mark V rifle, advertised as the lightest production bolt-action rifle ever made. The lightest configuration of this rifle is chambered in .308 Winchester, has a 17” barrel and weighs 4 lbs! Yes, four pounds or 1.81 kilograms for those of you who are metric-minded.

Weatherby continues to expand its modern bolt-action lineup with the Model 307 Alpine MDT SB, a compact, purpose-built rifle that puts portability and efficiency front and center. Built on Weatherby’s newest bolt-action platform, the Model 307, the Alpine MDT SB is designed to complement the company’s legacy Mark V and Vanguard rifles while embracing the modularity and suppressor-ready trends of today’s hunting and precision markets.

Weatherby has introduced two new dangerous game hunting versions of their Mark V bolt action rifle, dubbed Frontier and DGR. The main differences between the two rifles are in the furniture and chambering options. Weatherby advertises these new products as rifles engineered to operate in the extremes and deliver when every moment matters.
